TRAVEL POSTS!!

I don't know about you guys, but I really love traveling. So, I thought I could make a thread for people to share pictures, drawings, stories, poetry, or anything else about places they've been or maybe even where they want to go in the future. I don't think this needs to be a contest- there are lots of other threads for that. Anyways, all place-lovers, world travelers, and explorers of any kind are welcome!!

Seems like fun to me!

So during thanksgiving break, My mother, Sister, And I took a vacation about a week to Flordia. It was also coincidentally the same time of year as my Grandfather in law's birthday. We had a huge family reunion, and i saw my 4 year old cousin. I also met some friends I had made two years ago there. Everyone said that the water was cold, but I swam every day I was there.

I live about 2-3 hours away from Chicago, and it is one of my favorite places in the world to go to. I haven't travelled that far (I think the farthest west I've been is St. Louis XD), but the times I've been up there were all amazing. Once my family went there on like an actual trip, where we went to the Bean, the Hancock tower, Navy Pier, and the Art Institute, which was so cool! I'm amazed at the skyscrapers- honestly just walking or driving through the city for a day would be incredible to me. My mom, aunts, and sister and I once took a fun day trip up to just browse on Michigan Avenue and eat at Giordano's (which is. So. Amazing. And now there's one in a closer town to me !!!) I've also been a few times with my dad and sister to go to White Sox games. In Chicago, I rode a taxi for the first time, went on a metro, and visited my friend/cousin in law who lives in a suburb nearby. My dream is to go to art school there after community college.

Right after Christmas I went on a cool, but also somewhat miserable car trip. A close friend of my parents was getting married, so we drove to Idaho, which is about 24 hours away from where my family live. It was just me, my mom and dad, and my older brother in station wagon for what ended up being over 50 hours. We took two days to drive out there, leaving at seven in the morning, and stopping around midnight because it was snowing so hard we couldn't see. The next morning, we left at six thirty, and got to our destination about four thirty. We spent one day there, the day of the wedding, and left the next morning at six thirty, taking a different route back because the way we came got over twenty inches of snow. Driving through the night, and only stopping for bathroom/gas breaks, and one two hour period to wait for the sun to come up, we managed to get back home around noon. The drive itself was kind of terrible, but we got to see mountains and lots of other pretty scenery, which was cool since I come from a very flat part of the country. It was a good experience to have, but I would not want to do it again anytime soon.

I like to travel, although I don't do it too often, so maybe I just like vacations. :) I don't always like getting to where we're going (the last time I flew on a plane I was terrified, even though I had been fine with it every other time), but I love seeing new places. I really love cities and being able to see so many different things without ever getting very far away from our hotel. The variety of foods, cultures, and things in general is incredible. I also love going to nature-y places. This past summer, my family went to Acadia National Park, and the summer before, we went to Mt. Rainier. Both were amazing, beautiful, and tons of fun! I've never been out of the U.S, but I would love to see Spain, Italy, other European countries, Australia, Asia, and just about anywhere else that I get the chance to go to!
