The weather in

The weather in Maryland is so weird! We just had our biggest snowstorm of the year and it's the flipping SECOND DAY OF SPRING! And now they canceled school and they're out of snow days at the end of the year but it's too close to Spring Break so they have to ask for a waiver from the state! But then again one snowflake probably also would've canceled school. Sigh. While I'm ranting about how wimpy MCPS is, we had a WIND DAY and a RAIN DAY off from school a little while ago. What's the weirdest/ most annoying weather you guys have gotten? Can your state/county deal with snow? I think the reason school would be canceled for one snowflake is that Montgomery County is huge and it might be snowing up north, and we really just don't have enough snowplows! We mostly get canceled for a "wintry mix" or like 1 inch of snow. I think possibly the weirdest (and slipperiest!) one was when there was freezing rain or something so there was a thin coating of ICE on everything! I probably could've skated to school!

It's pretty weird in western PA too, we've not had major snow for a few weeks and all of a sudden on the first day of spring, it went crazy. Early in the day it rained, then it got cold enough that it turned into snow and made a minor sort of snowstorm. The same happened yesterday although it cleared up around 4:00, but we still got around 4-6 inches for the first time since, like, January. Leave us alone, winter, it's meant to be spring now!

I live in PA too, and I was so annoyed when it snowed on the first day of spring!

First of all: Our county is super tolerent of snow. Two inches? Whoop-de-doo. Six inches? whatever. Two feet? No prob- Oh wait, you can't drive? Yeah, ok.

Second of all: Yeah, March is super weird. The weather people should just be like:

"... And here's the forecast for the next month. Overall high is 68 degrees farenhight with an overall low of negative five, although most of the time it'll be around 30... Random snow, rain and hail showers are all likely, along with sudden strong winds. A couple times it'll probably snow two inches over a course of three days and then melt in twelve hours. Always bring your winter coat and stainless steel umbrella to deflect hail, because literally no one has any clue what even is March. Back to you, Christine."

That weather report is indeed accurate.

Also, what happened to 'In like a lion, out like a lamb'? I mean come on! I see lots of lions here, but where exactly are the cute fuzzy lambs?

The lambs won't show up for a while. It's past their cue, but they take a lot of coaxing. They're starting to come to me, though, or at least they did today.

Yeah, I'm sorry to say that my county is pretty much the opposite. One inch? Canceled. Less than a centimeter? Canceled. One snowflake in the northernmost city? Canceled. Cold rain? Two-hour delay. Oh no, we're out of snowdays! How in the world did that happen? Say goodbye to your spring break, kids!

In South-Eastern Pennsylvania, March is as unpredictable as a grumpy toddler. First it snows on the first and second days of spring, then it melts within approximately two days, and everybody thinks winter is over, then stays gray and icky for the next week. What the heck, weather? And on TOP of all that, we get a bunch of snow that the weather reports say we aren't supposed to get for at LEAST several hours, if at all and that it is only supposed to be a light coating. Seriously?

Spring is like a strobe light flickering between the dark winter and bright summer. I try to keep my expectations to a minimum and take it as it comes, because it's seriously unpredictable. I'm hoping for no more snow, because we've had too many cancellations, and any more will mean days taken out of our spring break. There was one year when we got to choose whether we wanted to add days in the break or at the end of the year, but when I brought it up recently, nobody seemed to remember or like the idea. That was weird, and kind of worrying. We've always put so much emphasis on running every part of the school together; why must we now be complacent in having no power to decide what happens if we miss a day? And why drain our short, long-awaited spring vacation when we could instead subtract the days from the much more ample supply of summer break, making the depletion trivial? That was a lot of fancy talk. Which would you rather do, shorten spring break or summer?

DEFINITELY SPRING!! You NEED spring break, it breaks up the monotony of the second semester. We would defenitely be surprised if we got to pick, though.

Here in Oregon (well, where I live in Oregon) the weather's pretty sunny, which is a good thing, I suppose. Whenever it snows, (even if it's like, one inch) they usually cancel school. One time last year, it started snowing during school, so we had to leave early because the snow could like up, and then we'd be stuck at school. But when we were in our way home, the snow did like up, we got stuck in traffic, and then we didn't get home till 7. Suprisingly, snow isn't my favorite weather.

It also gets really hot in the summer. But my family goes to California for summer to visit realatives, so YAY! Even more heat! (Sarcasm.) Spring is usually rainy, so it's kind of nice we get a sunny day in March.

It's EASTER. And it's SNOWING. I guess this is what happens when Easter fall on the same day as April 1st...
