Chatterbox: Down to Earth

I'm terribly offended

I'm terribly offended.

I'm sorry. I only just got back on here. This is still in my first week back. But something unpleasant happened and I need to tell someone. I don't wanna tell my mum because while she is good intentioned, the things she says haven't helped me that much when it comes to these sorts of things.

So, here's why. I have a character design class that I go to on saturday mornings, to start things off. It's fun, most of the time. We draw, make characters, learn techniques, so on and so on. But last class, I confessed that I am a doll person, and that I am willing to spend an arm and a leg on one. So one person asked what kind of dolls (I could tell she was a little suspicious) so I answered truthfully that I like abjds, or asian ball jointed dolls. And she said "Oh," as if she were responding to me saying that I have foot fungus or something like that. Then she asked if I was "one of those weird people who talk to them and treat them like humans" and I said no, of course.

Truth is, I do talk to them. It's a coping mechanism for me. I need to talk to something or I get too lonely. I definately don't beleive they answer back, but the characters that I have put into them, in a sense, do talk back, in the way that when you write a story, the characters take lives on their own. But I still talk to them.

This made the next part of art class pretty unpleasent. It got worse when someone else, instead of just saying that they looked a little creepy to her (I was showing a picture to my friend) actually said they looked like dead babies. This just completely wrecked the rest of my day. I didn't cry, but I was still really upset. I know I shouldn't take it to heart but they have become a big part of my life. I'm way too soft.

Anyway, sorry for that vent. I just needed to say it somewhere.

I can relate to this because there's this one guy in my math class that DRIVES ME BONKERS!  One time he asked me what my favorite band was and I was kind of embarrassed to tell him for two reasons: 1) because I'm the only one at my school who listens to alternative rock and 2) I knew he would pester me about it.  But I told him that my favorite band was Imagine Dragons.

So after I said that, he said "So you like __?"  It was another band.  I hadn't heard of it, hence the reason I don't remember the name.  It's blank for that reason.  Of course, I repeated myself, saying, "No, I don't like __, I like Imagine Dragons."

Then his friend walks up.  He says, "What are you talking about?"  The first guy responds with, "Her favorite band is __!"  I got pretty mad, and I said, "No, it's Imagine Dragons, I don't know why you keep saying it's __, it's not!"

The two guys spent the rest of the period laughing at me while I felt like crying, slapping them, and screaming at the same time.

So yeah, I know how you feel.  My advice is probably to stick with anyone you're friends with in that class, and if you don't have any friends in that class, try to make one that'll respect your interests.
