CBer chat thread!

This is a place for conversations, debates discussions about AEs. And, best of all, NO AES ALLOWED! yay!

I'll start the first conversation:

Does anyone play DnD? (For those who don't, you guys can start another conversation, such as books.) Also, to clear stuff up, please add the topic of your conversation to the name thing, like this:

Catsclaw, on DnD.

See ya!

On knowledge bowl and quiz bowl,

Okay, that sounds pretty much the exact same as knowledge bowl. I wonder if it's just called a different thing where you live or something.

Ignore the stereotypes, they're for normal people. And weirdness is the best. If anyone thinks that I'm in it for the boys, they obviously don't know me. D&D is really fun, and while it can be slightly time-consuming, it's easy. I think. I have the hang of it now, so. It's mostly having your character do stuff and sometimes rolling dice  pto see if they succeed. There are D&D podcasts out there somewhere if you want to hear people play.

I know, I try not to listen to any stereotypes. And I think I should try it out.

Applejaguar, on DnD

For the most part it's easy, though there are some super confusing parts too. xD  We ended up cutting out reactions altogether when we play just because we couldn't figure out how they worked. And creating your character is kind of insane. But the playthrough itself is rather simple!

So the best milk comes from Wisconsin, is what this says? What makes me laugh is that that’s specified.

yeah, but i actually find creating characters to be fun! Admittedly, i haven't *actually* played yet, but i've created a character, (Dwarf ranger,) read the rulebooks cover-to-cover, and i'm about to join a group.

Hey, I noticed that there was a DnD conversation here. I was joking around earlier today and I mentioned DnD. My mom said that she heard the game was inappropriate, but doesn't remember why.

Can anyone tell me why it's supposed to be inappropriate? I honestly don't think that it is.

There is some violence, but it’s all fantasy style. Ok, there’s a fair amount of violence. But all monsters and magic and swords, nothing realistic.

It all really depends on the group you're playing with, and who your Dungeon Master is. DnD is a very adaptable game, so the level of violence or other innapropriate stuff is almost entirely up to your DM. Like Neko said, there will always be a fair amount of violence, but it doesn't have to be at all graphic. So it could be really innapropriate if that's what the group wants, but if you just want lighthearted PG adventures, DnD can be that too.

@Alizarine on the picture

The complete off subject-ness and randomness of the picture is amazing, xD. When I read your post with it, I just started laughing and maybe it's just 'cause I'm tired, but yeah. It was great. So anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is, yeah the picture is hilarious so thanks! ;P :)

D&D is kind of about going on adventures in whatever world you can imagine, so there are opportunities for inappropriateness open to any determined DM or player. The most obvious is violence, although it usually takes the form of having characters attack imaginary monsters, which I don't believe is a big deal. As long as your group is reasonably mature, it should be fine.
