Audition help?

Audition help?

PLEASE HELP ME.

XD

I'm auditioning for A Christmas Carol tomorrow, and I'm terrified. I mean, I've done auditions before, plenty of times, but this one is different. It makes cuts (meaning not everyone who tries out is guaranteed a part), and it... it's just really important to me. Some of my friends who I hardly ever get to see are coming to the audition, and I'm sure they'll make it in because they are infinitely better than me, and.... does anyone have any advice?

Thank you so much!

I would say don't be nervous, but everyone knows that's impossible, right? Maybe instead of constantly reviewing, you could calm down, review one time, and then, I dunno, do something to relax, like listen to music, or write. Whatever relaxes you.

I would say... try to practice the lines in front of someone! I bet that they would give you constructive criticism, which would help you improve speed, and other stuff like that. (also, what character are you auditioning for?)

The oldest of the children. Her name is Martha.

When I audition I think of it like this:  Why do I want the part?  To perform.  So I look at the audition as a chance to perform.  If it doesn't lead to antyhing, at least I had one more opporunity to perform my heart out :3   I know it isn't the solution to all your problems, but it can at least make it a little bit more fun.

Auditions are scary, but remember, everyone there is nervous too and the audition panel is aware of that as well. Just try relax, have fun, and warm up/ practice before it's your turn.

One of my friends says a trick he uses is to imagine that you've already got the part and act as in character as you can.

Good luck! Go show them what you've got.

My advice? Just enjoy it and have fun with it! Smile, and let the audience, or whoever you are auditioning for know that you love acting, and that you absolutely want this part by making that character a part of YOU.

Be in your own little "bubble," imagine that it's just you acting out your lines, and put yourself in the character's shoes-adding your own character and personality to that person.

Also, be confident. :) Good luck!

*Rubs hand together* Oh boy, prepare for a Fidelity talk. These are the four audition principles I like to use.

1. Focus on the reason why you want the role. I know you love theatre, so you have to focus on that. Don't do it to get the approval of your friends, do it because you love it.

2. Know your character. Martha is super interesting! She has a lot of emotions that are hard to portray, and you have to think about how to show that.

3. Become your character. Imagine that Martha is your AE! What would she do in a situation. Don't act the part, be the part.

4. And lastly, EYE CONTACT WITH THE PANEL. It makes all the difference, and the panel will be able to feel the emotion better. Try to connect with every person in the room.

I realize that after writing this, you may have finished your audition already. In that case, congrats! The worst part is over. If you haven't done it yet, don't stress, you are going to do great. :D

<3 Fidelity

P. S. I have a friend who was Martha, and she loved the role! Good luck!
