Some Thoughts Except

Some Thoughts Except They're in Words and Not in My Head:

I got mentioned on my favorite podcast which is really awesome and they even said I have a great name and great review and I'm really happy but also my Galleon meeting was a semi-disaster and I got really stressed out and I'm making a run on sentence but I don't care. I am also a bit miffed about the whole brother situation but that's something I feel like I should be able to get over easily. I feel kinda lonely even though I just had like 7 friends come over today to play my game. It's weird how your brain can do that. I don't know what I'm looking for but it sure does seem hard to find. That was poetic. I'm tired but I could never sleep. I'm really happy to have Thanksgiving break, but sadly that means I don't have school as a distraction and now I have time to explore my own head which is not exactly peachy. The more time I spend in there the worse off I get. I can't tell if that's hilarious or really depressing. I did learn that My Hero theme song on guitar which would be a lot more fun if I didn't kinda suck at guitar. I'm not sure why I'm posting this other than I need to get these thoughts out and send them somewhere else. I wonder where thoughts go after they leave your head. Figuratively speaking, I mean. And I just remembered I won't be able to go to the Muse concert. Darn. I need to find some other pastime to pursue cuz the ones I've been exploring just ain't doing it for me. I wonder if Fantastic Beasts 2 is any good. I wonder if anything is any good, really. I suppose good is relative to what you're comparing it to. Cuz at the end good and bad are comparisons to something else the viewer sees as good or bad. Huh. Morality is in the eye of the beholder I guess.

I'm so sorry for you, General. I relate to a lot of what you've said, and being stuck inside your head really, really sucks. It's hard because there's nowhere else to go, but you feel like you have to leave, right now. Thoughts keep swirling around and causing you to overthink more and more. Brains are funny things- they make us feel lonely when we have friends, tired when we're getting 9 hours of sleep, sad when we should feel happy, and make us hold grudges over something silly and meaningless.

I've been where you are and it will get better, I promise. Sometimes a little distraction from overthinking is nice as well. Finding a new hobby to be absorbed in during this break is a good idea, as it can take your mind off of things, espescially if you listen to music or watch something while doing it (something happy. Find a lighthearted show to watch. I've been enjoying Parks and Rec lately, maybe try that if you have Netflix). Speaking of music... I noticed you mentioned Muse... do you wanna talk about Muse? I don't know anyone else that likes them, and finding out that someone has a common interest as me always makes me happy.

What is your favorite song from Simulation Theory? And all the other albums? Going album by album, I'd have to say my favorites are Muscle Museum on Showbiz, New Born on OoS, Sing for Absolution on Absolution, Exo-Politics on BHaR, literally every single song from the Resistance, Madness on the 2nd Law, Reapers on Drones and Get up and Fight on ST.

What is your opinion on ST? I'm still trying to get used to the different sound, especially after Drones. All the songs are so, so different, but they're all pretty good. I could talk for hours about it, but it's your turn now. :)

Thank you. I think I'm just in a bit of a rut and I needed to just exhale my thoughts as it were. I may continue these though exhalations on this thread. Thank you for the support. It's really appreciated.

I really like Muse. They're probably my favorite band, right up there with the Fratellis and The Wombats. I also think Simulation Theory might be my favorite album to date. It's so unique and unlike anything I've really ever heard before. My favorite song either Break it to Me (probably one of the most unique tracks on the album) or Propaganda (Between BmtH and Muse, AI hooks are getting more popular). On Showbiz I think Fillip is my favorite, for Origin of Symmetry it is most certainly Plug in Baby, for Hullabaloo Soundtrack it's Shrinking Universe, Time is Running Out for Absolution (that bass line is just so good), close between Knights of Cydonia and Starlight for Black Holes and Revalations, I Belong to You off of The Resistance, Supremacy for 2nd Law, and Psycho for Drones (even if it is the sweariest song they have). Simulation Theory just has such a cool atmosphere and the music videos certainly help. Something Human and Get Up and Fight are to me the weaker tracks (Get Up and Fight is straight up an Imagine Dragons song and Something Human is just... kinda there) but that's just my opinion.

Have you listened to Imagine Dragon's new album? I like it way better than Evolve but it still doesn't trump Smoke + Mirrors. It's a bit too shallow to quite get that rank (but Zeroes is a really genius track [blending bubbly pop with really dark lyrics]). Machine is just dope. I'm not going to get tired of that track.

I think you'd like the Wombats. They're a British indie rock band with some really great acoustic tracks and some excellent lyrical content.

Simulation Theory is so intersting to me. Each song is unique and has its own style, but somehow they all come together. The story is also so complex- I'm still trying to piece together the videos. I disagree, I'm not sure Get Up And Fight and Something Human are necessarily weaker tracks, per se, just that they're more mellow. I actually like GUaF because the chorus made me think of Surrender the Night by MCR. But that's fine if you don't like them I guess. What order do you think the videos for the singles go in? I'm thinking Dig Down-Thought Contagion-Pressure-Something Human-Dark Side but I'm still working on it. What do you think the story of the album itself is about, if that makes any sense?

I've listened to the singles from Origins, but not the whole album. I don't love Natural, but Zero was really good. I agree, I don't think any Imagine Dragons album will ever be better than Smoke and Mirrors. Every song on that album is an absolute bop, though Night Visions is good too.

I'll have to look up the Wombats, what song do you recommend I start with?

I think it goes Dig Down, Thought Contagion, Pressure, Break it to Me, Algorithms, Something Human, Dark Side, Blockades.

I think it starts off with the guy from Thought Contagion playing Dig Down on the arcade cabinet. This brings us to level one of the simulation- Dig down. The second level (or the vampire level) is the one the Thought Contagion guy is on, and the one that Bellamy's character goes to when he goes into Pressure, which is clearly another simulation level, and the same one as Thought Contagion. The weird mutant hamsters are what create the Vampires. Terry Crews tries to stop the guinea pigs, but he gets bitten and goes all weird in Break it to Me. He then escapes into the weird bunker where he learns he is trapped in a simulation. Around this time, Bellamy is running from the cops in Something Human (level 3 of the simulation). I think by the time Crews makes the portal, Bellamy returned the video to the Retrograde Video. Crews and Bellamy both travel to the top layer of the Simulation (the one with all the skeletons). Crews shuts the Bellamy TVs down (the ones that we saw in dig down) and I think that frees one of the simulations to the next level and also makes the skeleton level crumble, as we saw at the end of Dark Side. Then Blockades is just a compilation thingie.

I recommend Greek Tragedy first, then Cheetah Tounge, then Let's Dance to Joy Division. After that, you can decide if you like them or not. If you like them I recommend another band called the Arctic Monkeys. For them, I would start with Knee Socks.

I get you, a little bit. I get lonely and stressed and in my head too. I also sorta suck at guitar, but I'm getting better at it! And most things are good.

Some Thoughts Because It Matches This Theme And Also I Think It Would Be Freeing:

I want to say it’s okay and we’re here for you. We are, but I don’t know if that makes you feel better. It makes sense that you could be lonely after having seven people over. If it didn’t go well, why should there have been companionship or camaraderie in it?

I don’t know what Galleon is. I’d look it up, but I’d rather ask. If it’s not too much trouble, can someone please explain it?

I’m happy to have Thanksgiving break, but it’s almost over now and I’m worried that I’m not going to get enough done. I went away for the gathering, as usual. There were about 25 people this year, a smaller one.

What about spending time in your head gets you down? Is it squirrels? If it’s the squirrels just tell them to knock it off or you’ll get a cat. I can lend you a cat if you want.

You can play guitar? I think that’s impressive all on its own. I would like to know how, although I don’t want to go through the process of learning. It sounds like work. You must have a lot more dedication than I do. Did you teach yourself? Can you read music? I used to be able to read music, but all I can do now is determine the length of notes and the relationship of pitch between them. I admire anyone who can tell what sounds correspond to all those marks and what motions produce them.

I think thoughts are more like connections than things, so when you forget them, it’s a connection being lost rather than a thing going somewhere.

Very wise. It’s a bit like that saying, “history is written by the victors. And then forgotten by the victors. And then the victors die, too.” Wait, sorry, that was Night Vale. I meant just the first sentence. If you’re looking for something to watch/listen to, though, I can recommend Overly Sarcastic Productions (a YouTube channel), The Adventure Zone (a D&D podcast), and of course Welcome to Night Vale (a horror/comedy podcast). For music, there’s Winter by Vivaldi, Shake by Walk Off the Earth, Fine On The Outside, Doesn’t Matter by Christine and the Queens, Kiss From A Rose by Wake Me, Friday I’m In Love by The Cure, I’m ALIVE by Becca and 3 Gymnopédies by Erik Satie, which is a very conservative list but I don’t know if you’re going to like what I like. Also, if you want to read something, there’s a whole slew of webcomics: The Hopeless Living (unfinished), Stand Still Stay Silent (first adventure complete, second one ongoing), Dresden Codak (which I may have misspelled)... just tell me if you want more of anything.

Also, if you think you suck at guitar, try learning the song Satelllite by Rise Against. It's a really cool song, and the chords are super simple! It'll sound great (especially if you have a capo and put it on the first fret) and you'll feel extremely skilled while playing it.

I'm teaching myself guitar, and so far I've mostly just been learning chords and trying to get better at switching chords quickly. I had a guitar songbook but it's almost entirely songs I don't know (stuff by the Beatles and rock bands from a long time ago--only one Taylor Swift song, it's a shame) I hadn't learned any songs from it yet and instead of trying, I thought hey, why not learn something I like...Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift was my main goal, but I thought I could find some chords for a couple other songs too. I looked up Satellite and tried playing it through once, and it was great!

If you look up "satellite rise against guitar chords" the first website that comes up will hopefully be one called Ultimate Guitar and it'll have the chords.
