Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Random Thoughts/Things?

Random Thoughts/Things?

I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. Any random thought you have, any random thing that happens to you, any random question that pops into your mind. Have fun, and don’t be afraid to be random.

I wonder if something sad will happen this week...

Fevers are enjoyable, claims Duici.

I know that some of you fellow chatterboxers might like the video game Fortnite, (like me) But did you know that the word Fortnight means two weeks, or fourteen days, and actually originated from an Old English term meaning fourteen nights??

Wait for It from Hamilton is actually really pretty sad. I only listened to it maybe once before I listened to The World Was Wide Enough, and I didn't catch all the lyrics, so listening to it again was pretty heartbreaking.

Love doesn't discriminate/between the sinners and the saints/it takes and it takes and it takes/and we keep loving anyway/we laugh and we cry and we break/and we make our mistakes/and if there's a reason I'm by her side/when so many have tried/then I'm willing to wait for it/...death doesn't discriminate/between the sinners and the saints/it takes and it takes and it takes/and we keep living anyway/we rise and we fall and we break/and we make our mistakes/and if there's a reason I'm still alive/when everyone who loves me has died/then I'm willing to wait for it

*goes to sob in a corner while also listening to It's Quiet Uptown and Satisfied*

I wonder that so much! like, some things are named after other things, right? well, what were those things names after? Before that? BEFORE THAT??? How did language start? why, in books, say, can a language be called Elvish. but there is no Human as a language? HOW DID THE ORIGINAL LANGUAGES START??? why do people have different peonouns based on their gender? why do people often a question such as "Do you not like cats?" as if that question were "do you like cats?" Its so frustrating! and I agree, it is endlessly frustrating That I dont know why things are called what they are. and who makes up new words?

@Feline Fantasy I think some words may just come about naturally, like, people just start calling something a name they made up or that is a mashup of several other words and for a while it's slang but eventually it gets used more and more and more and eventualy put into the dictionary.

But I don't know how language started exactly, how people decided what to call what. And how did they learn words like "what" and "yes" and other abstract things??

Also @Dolphin I looked up that song and it's good! I'm listening to it right now as u can see if you look at my location box xD

Yesterday I had my mom put a bunch of songs on my phone. I said to her, ‘there’s so many good U2 songs I can’t pick, just put your faves on’ her: ‘umm, that’s like 200 songs by them’ me: ‘oh yeahhh... oops’   Have you listened to ‘Pride (In the name of love)’ or ‘Vertigo’? Those are both really good too. If you ask my mom all songs by U2 are really good...
