Random Thoughts/Things?

I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. Any random thought you have, any random thing that happens to you, any random question that pops into your mind. Have fun, and don’t be afraid to be random.

Warning: rant incoming

i hate this. People at my school keep using the word gay as an insult or something negative and I just HATE IT. I don't even know why it gets on my nerves so much, but it does. It doesn't make me less proud of being bi but it just makes me mad and GRARRRRRRR. I've tried telling my [former] friend about how it might be a joke to him but not to everyone, and he stopped for a while, but now it's started again and it's even worse. And it's not just this one person, there's at least 5 people in each of my classes (usually more, especially in my math class). And the worst part is that I feel like I can't do anything about it. I've tried telling someone to stop, but it doesn't work. And if I try again, to people I don't know as well I'm scared that everyone's going to make fun of me. I can't exactly convince someone to completely change their way of thinking. So I have to deal with this every. Single. Day. Arghhh. Thank you for listening (or reading I guess) to my rant.

Wow. I'm really sorry. Why can some people be like that? It doesn't make any sense! How would they feel if they were on the receiving end? Urghh. I'm sorry that this is happening. This isn't right. If you would like to hear a suggestion to what you could do, I have one. Have you tried talking to a teacher/adult/authoritative human? Or, if you are afraid it'll come back to you, or you don't want to talk face-to-face/being know, you could write a letter to someone (like the principal) anonymously, instead. I hope that they stop soon!

Those are good suggestions, Rainbow. Thank you.

Ugh. Yes. People at my school used to do that a lot. I don't hear it as much anymore, luckily. Whenever I hear that I usually try to turn around and be like "it's not an insult, it is a way to describe a person" (which is something you've said, sorry hope you're okay with that). Some people just do it because others do it and really just need to be educated more on how their words can hurt real people. School should be a community that is safe for all kids.

That's hideous. Being gay or LGBTQIA+ is not bad, it's not an insult, it's just something someone is. And I'm sorry that people might make fun of you if you tell them that it's bad - being made fun of is horrible. The best advice I could give would be to make sure your argument is solid, if you're able to talk to people about it. So, make sure you have concrete reasons why using gay (or anything like that) as an insult is awful, how being gay isn't actually a bad thing (duuuuuh), and maybe expressing how it makes you feel. But I totally get that calling people out is hard. And I don't know what you've said; you might have said the most well-worded speech and nothing happened. It's a reflection on the other person, not you.

I also want to add this: remember that it's not your fault. Remember that their being bigoted does not mean that being LGBTQIA+ is a bad thing - if someone is using an integral, wonderful, valid part of a person as an insult, it's their fault. Not yours. That if you need to rant, you can always post something here. And that, athough you're probably gettting so much homework this is hard, try to find time to do things that make you happy and make you feel good about yourself if you can. Because you are a wonderful person and you should know that.

Also, I'm not great at feelings, so I'm sorry if this isn't helpful or I've misunderstood something : ) If I did, feel free to say what I said wrong, and I'll see if I can fix it. Lastly, thank you so much for being willing to stand up for this. It means a lot to me : ) I wish you the best of luck.

Oh, that's horrible!

At my school, it's... weird.  See, people will say stuff like that, and make fun of other people but the thing is, everyone also says they're gay.  Us being weird hormonal early teens, attraction is a hard thing to figure out.  Definitely everyone at my school is either part of the LGBTQIA+ community or supports it, and yet... there's still the "that's gayyy" stuff.  It's hard to explain, but it's always a joke.

I'd tell you some stuff you could say to get them to stop, but I know how hard it is.  I... don't really know how it is for you, Fallen Leaf, but I can't even say hello to some of my best friends (we met inline during COVID so...) I'm that socially awkward.  I could never dream of standing up to a stranger, especially over a matter that people think is normal and not a big deal (though in reality, it really really is a big deal.)

Those people, though...  it's not fair to do that.  What do people think being gay is, anyway?  It's love.  How could people find anything wrong with that?

Whoever you or anyone else likes, it's okay.  Straight, gay, lesbian, bi, pan, ace... it's all okay.  Even if you don't know what it is, or are struggling with your identity, it's okay.  You are a wonderful human being; take pride in yourself.

Easier said than done, I know...

Anyways... this might not have been helpful in the least, but I love you (platonically ofc) and good luck.

Oh, um, this may be a weird omen but like... if you are lesbian Confetti just said "bfbad"... perhaps don't deny who you like and uh get a boyfriend if you don't want one?  Idk Confetti's weird
