Random Thoughts/Things?

Random Thoughts/Things?

I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. Any random thought you have, any random thing that happens to you, any random question that pops into your mind. Have fun, and don’t be afraid to be random.

I recently saw a picture that triggered my fear of heights.

I welcome you into the age of humidity, knitting, oat milk, and The Umbrella Academy. Join me and we will accomplish . . . A lengthy discussion of double-pointed needles, dairy, theories about Ben, Number 5, time travel, and other things.

Intriguing, non?

I'm down for discussing dpns! Do you prefer them? I find them kinda finicky.

I am not a fan of them at all. I knitted a tiny cat stuffed animal using dpns, and I had to restart it seven times because they were so hard to work with. That cat took away half my sanity, I swear. I would like to knit socks though, or at least try. Have you had any experience with that?

I hope you don't mind if I randomly drop in to your knitting conversation.

I actually like dpns.  They are really finnicky for the first few rows, but once I'm past that it's great.  A lot better than having to slide around the stitches so you can knit with cable needles that are too long (I can't seem to find a pair of cable needles with the perfect lenght for whatever projects I knit).  One thing about dpns though is that there are two ends for stitches to slide off of.

Socks are really fun!  They make great canvasing for exploring various stitch patterns and they aren't too hard as long as you have a pattern without errors.  I knit my first socks with an error filled pattern and it was very frustrating.  You can actually knit socks using cable needles if you prefer.

Not at all, thank you! Do you have any sock patterns you'd recommend? Have you tried colorwork?

I honestly haven't used them much, but I wasn't impressed with the one set I bought. Nothing wrong with the needles themselves, dpns are just not comfortable to work with for me.

I really would like to try knitting socks! I haven't yet, but if I decide to try I'll probably get a pair of small circular needles. I really like cable needles, but magic loop looks kind of frustrating. I've never tried it.

OKIE DOKIE here are my thoughts (spolers for s1-s3)

So Viren and Harrow's relationship is really interesting to me because it doesn't match up with post-Harrow Viren; he seemed so relieved that Harrow was out of his way, he ordered Soren to kill his sons, etc; but all evidence shows that before episode 1 the two were extremely close.  In the first episode Harrow seems like he's all calm and in control and stuff, he's like "call it what it is:  DARK MAGIC>:/" and "you will know your place loser" so it sort of seemed like Harrow is just fed up with Viren's garbage all the time (i saw fanart the other day of harrow deciding whether the trash, recycling, or compost bin was most appropriate for viren's dead body it was the greatest) but in later episodes, the flashbacks reveal that he was actually a bit of a doormat.  I mean until the assassins came to murder him he was pretty chill about dark magic and sorta let Viren do whatever he wanted.  It wasn't hard to get Harrow to play along.  Viren wanted to kill Avizandum and he was like "mmm i dunno seems like it might start a giant world war" and viren was like "but sarai" and he was like "understandable where do i sign."  Every major move, it seems, that Harrow made was actually dictated by Viren and much of it includes dark magic.  Harrow never required Viren to use formalities with him and was fine with them acting as equals, which I mean if they were close friends it made sense, but.... Viren is not a good person.  Perhaps with the threat on Harrow's life he began to panic and blame Viren for what had happened with Avizandum that then led to his death and finally, after years, decided to show Viren that he was, in fact, the king (and Viren wasn't.)

I wonder how Harrow and Viren became friends in the first place.  Harrow seems a good person, and he found something in Viren he liked, perhaps it was Viren's smooth talking coming into play once again.  Viren could have wanted to be closer to the throne, but they seemed, at least at first, to genuinely like each other.  What's up with that:/

And was Viren actually going to trade his life for Harrow's? He seemed all purposeful about it, but that just doesn't match up with anything that's happened since.  He was so quick to get Harrow's ceremonies, children and status out of the way so he could be in control, so it seems highly unlikely that he was actually going to sacrifice himself, but then, what was he going to say to Harrow before the whole "on.  your.  knees."  thing happened?  And then after that we didn't see what went on in there until Viren came out and stole Callum's voice.  Of course I've heard the theory that Harrow is in Pip but that has too many holes in it for me.  Viren, even in that episode was obviously arrogant and extremely disrespectful to those under him (he treated his son like garbage, he offered random people's lives in exchange for harrow, he told the warriors about to die defending Harrow "losers i have a solution for harrow when your *scoff* SWORDS fail) so why would he perform such a noble action?  And what else would he be doing there?

What does Viren even WANT?  That confuses me most.  "A bright future for humanity."  MMMMMM-HMMMMMM.  Believable.  You could say to rule the world, but that's a bit general and doesn't really satisfy me.  He's SUCH a mystery and has complete disregard for people's lives, even people it seemed he should have loved the absolute most (Ez, Callum, Soren) but when Aaravos called Claudia an "asset," he was quick to defend her.  Yet he has no qualms about completely destroying her soul, lying to her at every step of the way, sending her into danger.  What even is going on

I'm rereading Magnus Chase, and the first time he and Alex Fierro are doing something just the two of them, Magnus is looking at Alex and says something like, "I felt like I was back on the Bifrost, superheated colors filling me". The Bifrost is a rainbow. Magnus is basically saying he can feel the rainbow inside of him while looking at Alex Fierro.

Rick Riordan is the opposite of subtle.

Is it bad that I spend this time planning how to most thematically satisfactorily kill off most of my AEs/OCs? I think Claire might be getting the best of me... :/
