Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Update on my life

I bet we’ve all changed so much, so here’s what I’ve been up to! The last time I was here, Cho moving to Japan was big news. If you guys could give me summaries of your lives since I left (end of summer 2016) I’d love to read them.

After leaving the CB, I entered seventh grade. Trump became president, I got obsessed with Divergent and some other fandoms. Seventh grade was honestly a really bad year for me. I wasn’t a great person, and went through a lot of friend drama. Basically, I was still that cringey sixth grader you guys had to deal with. :)

I think I played clarinet when I was on CB, but my obsession multiplied. I did Junior Districts, got into a select band. I switched ballet studios and went en pointe.

I think of eighth grade as the year I became a good person. I had the same kids in all four of my core classes, so I became the sweet little sister that everyone loved. It was the first time I realized that my classmates are nice, and I can be nice to them. I know it wasn’t real popularity, as people liked me in the she’s-so-cute way and not the I-admire-her way. Still, it was exhilarating. I got into Hamilton.

I planned to quit ballet and continue clarinet in high school because I was so much better at clarinet and had no future in ballet. In the end, I decided I was being fake and I should do what makes me happy, even if it’s less impressive on a college application.

In ninth grade, I got into all the musicals that followed: Wicked, Dear Evan Hansen, Be More Chill, and Heathers. Tell me if you’re a Hamilfan too, please.

I sort of shrunk back into a shell? My friend clique was problematic, so I ditched them. I’ve always considered myself an extrovert, but I think I’m an introvert now.

So tell me: What have you all been up to? And while you’re here, give me a quote you like. I’m a sucker for good quotes.

“Even when the dark comes crashing through, when you need a friend to carry you, when you’re broken on the ground: You will be found.” --Dear Evan Hansen

I actually do remember you (I swear I'm not lying! I just remember people). I really love that quote.

MEI!!! *tacklehug*

Sorry I haven't like commented on this thread to welcome you back. I've missed you!!! It's so good to see you around again, even if just for a bit!!! :)

How are your AEs? Puck and Ariel miss their AE friends alot. They and I are super excited for Valentine's day. :)

Let's see... what have I been up to lately... well, school is really busy, so I haven't been able to post lately... and I've also recently got hooked on the musicals "Dear Evan Hansen," and "Hamilton." I've been singing songs from those two musicals literally everywhere around the house. :)

And um... a quote? I guess, just, "good luck don't die!"-said by one of my good friends.

MEIIIIIIIIII! OHMYGOSH MEIIIIIIII! *tackle hugs* I MISSED YOU!!! I'm not even sure if you remember me because I joined right about when you were leaving, but I remember you!!!

I feel like I went through similar transitions as you as far as the friendship thing and the 'becoming a good person.' Although to me, you were always a good person and a huge part of the CB's character.

Anyway, I was still pretty shy and staying in the shadows when I was getting to know you, so I'll just tell you a bit about myself:

I'm sixteen, living on the East coast of the USA. I'm a homeschooled, animal crazy, creative farm girl with red hair and a lot of stories to tell. I never run short of ideas, although sometimes I do run out of inspiration, in which case I turn to quotes - That's something I have always loved about your comments and threads on here. You have awesome quotes.

Anyway, these days I'm trying to finish my current novel before Camp NaNoWriMo, I'm reading whenever I can, playing music, working and swamped with school work. I also have side hobbies of drawing, learning Swedish and ice skating when it's cold enough.

Anyway, that's enough about me. How are you?! I'm so happy you are back! Are you enjoying high school? What are your hobbies these days?

And of course I'm always thrilled to share a quote with a fellow lover of beautiful words -- "For this great secret, which was known to all educated men in our day: That by what men think, we create the world around us, daily new." - The Mists of Avalon -- Marion Zimmer Bradley

And to honor the death of Mary Oliver, I'll share one of her's as well -- "Poetry isn't a profession, it's a way of life. It's an empty basket; you put your life into it and make something out of that"

I don't know why I haven't hopped on here yet! I suppose because I talk to you some outside of the CB. But I haven't really talked to you much about my personal life. Let's see.

I tried to make a blog and a roleplay site, both of those fell through pretty quick. And yes, I made new friends ... it's all awfully complicated, though. XP

I've done a lot of babysitting too, and that's been fun(ish), but super taxing.

I took a year long break from gymnastics, so I leveled down to two, but I managed to pick up a lot of floor skills I've really never had before. I just leveled up again, so I'll finally get to really to the parallel bars again.

I haven't done a lot of piano, but I've been singing a lot more. Not with groups or anything, but I've been practicing and learning some on my own, and that's lots of fun.

I've been writing a lot more. I know that's the career choice I need to make. It's inseparable from me, I'm always going to be making a least one world on my head at the time. My goal is to write the books I want to see out there-something which honors the tradition of Robin McKinley, Patricia C. Wrede, Gail Carson Levine, and Jessica Day George. I want to be the next in that line.

Also: Heyyy, my mom played the clarinet in high school! So yes, after pruning, there is what's happened to me.

A favorite quote atm: "I believe in Christ, like I believe in the sun -- not because I can see it, but by it I can see everything else." ~ C.S. Lewis

Fun fact: He was an athiest for a very long time before he became a Christian (he may have been Christian as a child, but I forget), but now he is very much remembered for his Christian based books.

Great to see you stop by!
