Languages!! What languages

Languages!! What languages are you guys learning? Does anyone do Duolingo? I am currently learning Spanish for school and on Duo, and I previously did some Italian on Duo too. It seems like all my friends are learning French...

LA'IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!! It always bothers my dad so much when my mom and I drop our 'T's, so we always make an effort to pause in between the 'A' and the 'I' just to give him an eye twitch. XD

I'm learning Latin and Romanian. I also know the sentence "Grand Master, thank you for the good class" in Korean (random, I know) because the class says it in Korean at the end of Tae-Kwon-Do class.

I paused doing Duolingo lately cause ya know busy. I’m not really good at it but I like going to Google Translate and typing in the Spanish and seeing if it’s right by looking at the English. GAH this is what I mean! The Spanish is on top and the English below! :) The first thing I typed this way was mi abuelo es bonito y largo. It came out like My grandfather is beautiful and long!! xD

I know some Spanish that I can communicate using basic conversations, how to say "Hello Mom" in French, and "Congratulations" in Russian.

I love Duolingo! I haven't learned any languages for school yet (though I probably will at some point), but I've been taking Swedish lessons on Duo since Christmas.

Jag talar Svenska. Och jag älskar katter. (Translation: "I speak Swedish. And I love cats." XD Probably the two most important phrases you ever need to learn in Swedish. A-wink-wink.)

I speak English semi-fluently (if you ever met me irl, you'd see what I mean... I write a lot better than I talk), and I'm learning Latin for school. I also use little bits of languages such as German and French, even though I've never been taught. It's weird.

Besides English, I took Latin for 2 years but don't anymore and am currently learning French. I also can understand some Vietnamese (but don't speak it very well) and can fluently read Hebrew.

Ookz says bunt. I didn't know you had an interest in baseball, bud.

I'm learning French! I've been taking a class for almost two (school) years now with my French teacher, who's fluent in French. I do the class with my best friend, her older sister, and another girl. We all know each other and all have known the teacher for a really long time, so it's pretty friendly. The material is hard though. But we do learn a lot.

On the way to class on Wednesday, (it's once a week on Wednesdays) I was in the car and my mom asked me "So can you speak French now?" And I was preoccupied, but I heard her question and just immediately blurted out, "Oui! ...Non! Surtout pas!" (Yes, no, absolutely not) XD I'm better at writing it than speaking it.

Hazel says ummt--Umm, true.

Languages yay! I love learning languages SO much and I actually want to be a computational linguist when I grow up. As for what I'm learning, I've been learning Spanish since the beginning of 8th grade (I'm in 9th grade now!), and I've also been learning Korean for around a year. I learn Spanish in school and I take a Korean class at my local library. A lot of people had mentioned Duolingo and I definitely have used it in the past. I used it to learn Norwegian and while it was fun and I learned a lot, I don't think Duolingo is the best for learning a language entirely from scratch because it's a lot of memorization and not as much explanation. Nonetheless, I'm happy that there are so many other linguistically inclined people on here!

I would say goodbye in Korean but I don't have a Korean keyboard on my computer haha. Well.... adios!

I would brag about my Spanish skills, but this is the first year since Kindergarten that we've been taught the Spanish alphabet, so...

I can read Hebrew and know a tiny bit, because Jewish, and I know a little bit of Latin, because I know English like a minor god, and a lot of English comes from Latin. My knowledge of English and Latin means that I’m also not terrible at deducing some words in other Romance languages, like Spanish and French.

I'm learning Japanese and I used to learn Korean and a little bit of Italian. Learning a language is so, so interesting and important for so many reasons.
