Suggestion Thread

Hello friends! It's been a while, hasn't it? I thought it would be fun to make a suggestion/encouragement/kindness thread. It's a place for CBers to share ideas and thoughts that could help make the world a little bit better.

Nobody is perfect, by any means, but what's to say we can't always try to be better and to help each other be better?

My suggestion for the day is that people don't give videos online a thumbs down. Even if the content is super disrespectful or hurtful - it's only encouragement to spread more pain and anger. If you give a thumbs down on a video it just makes the whole atmosphere around the video even more negative.

Of course, when watching any social media platform, one should always be super-duper-positively-cautious. It's really easy to use the internet as a mask, and people take advantage of that.

That isn't to say social media is bad, either. It's a useful tool and totally a fun pastime - we just need to be careful of ourselves when we are on it.

In order to make the internet have a little more positive impact, I thought sharing this suggestion might inspire others to do the same.

Thanks for listening, I look forward to reading your suggestions!

Hi Silverwaxwing! (*Hugs*) This is a great idea! I never really thought about that thumbs-down thing, but yeah, that makes sense.

I don't have any advice/wisdom/anything right now, but I'm definitely going to think of some things to post later.

Leafy! Hello! *Hugs* How have you been? It's so good to see familiar faces around here. :)

No worries, I hope to share a few more ideas in the next week or two, but I can't commit to an idea every single day.

I've been good-ish. Sort of. I started high school after having been homeschooled pretty much my whole life, which is okayy...and a bit of an eye-opening experience. But I've been super struggling with writer's and artist's block. For months. And months. Aaagh. How are you?

Are you generally enjoying high scool? Is it a public school?

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear about your writer's and artist's block. It looks like maybe all of the CB is struggling with artist's block - or perhaps it's just that Lap R.'s Art Posting thread isn't quite as active as it used to be... I haven't been all that inspired to create much either, but I barely have time to do much of anything recreational anymore, so I guess I have an excuse?

I've been pretty good. The past six months or so have been pretty insane between family commitments, work and school. I'm a junior in high school this year and I'm working two part time jobs, so I have a very small amount of free time. Which is good in some ways, but also a pain.

Yeah, it's a public school. I enjoy some parts of it. I do like, as an extrovert, to be able to get out of the house and see + be around other people a lot, but I don't like how it takes up so much of my time (even in my free time, after school, I have to do homework) and there's just so much...idk how to say this...dirty-mindedness that goes around in there?

Yeah, the CB (and me, as well) has been in kind of a dead spot lately.

My suggestion for today: Give someone a compliment! This is so generic, but it's a really good thing to keep in mind. A lot of people really like getting compliments, so if someone you know is wearing something cool, or if you see someone make a really good piece of art or just anything, take a minute to compliment them on it! More often than not, a compliment can make someone's day just a little bit happier. Even if you don't know someone, you can still give them a compliment. Sometimes it can even be a good way to start off a friendship!

This is a thing I established with myself lately: Don't complain or say negative things about yourself. It's not very attractive to others or healthy for you.
