Pixie Cuts?

Pixie Cuts?

Pixie Cuts?

Hey all! I was wondering if anyone here has a pixie cut and can give me some advice? For a long time I've been thinking that it would be really cool to get a pixie cut and recently I've been actually seriously considering it.

Why I want a pixie cut:

-I'm not great at styling my long hair and I really don't have patience to learn how to do it better

-Short hair would be a lot easier to take care of

-When my hair is long, it often gets kind of floofy and puffy, which is super annoying to me, and I feel like if it was short it wouldn't be so much of a pain.

-I love love LOVE the look of pixie cuts--especially shorter-on-the-sides-longer-on-the-top ones and longer pixie cuts.

But also, there are some reasons I might not want to get a pixie cut--I don't really know how my hair would behave if it was short, and I feel like my face is kinda asymmetrical so I don't know if the short haircut would look good on me, and growing it out would be hard, and I've actually never been to a hair salon in my life because I've never needed a professional haircut; and because of that, my mom said that if I did want a pixie cut, I'd have to pay for the haircut myself and hair salons around Portland are expensive :P

So...if anyone has a pixie cut, I'd love some advice/general thoughts on pixie cuts/etc.

Did someone say pixie cuts???? Here I am!!!

I got a pixie cut over the summer. It sounds like your hair is straight, but mine is curly. Hopefully I can still help.

~Pixie cuts are super cool, especially short sides/long tops. I would reccomend not getting your hair super like, buzzed on the sides. It's my opinion but I think you would regret it.

~Fluffy hair may actually happen more with a curly pixie cut. But if you have straight hair it is more low-matineance and less...what word did you use? Oh yeah, floofy.

~I don't think having a pixie cut will make your asymmetrical face look bad. Here is a quote I read online:  "Technically any face shape can pull off a pixie, it just takes a bit of confidence!" (admin, sorry if copying from the internet isn't ok. )

~Anyway, Leafy, I hope that helped! Adios, Sirfire!!

My hair is kinda wavy. It's also in between thin and thick, so...it's super in-between so I'm never quite sure how it'll behave.

My crush has this super awesome haircut that's short on the sides and longer and fluffy on the top so I was kinda thinking of copying him by getting that sort of haircut...but yeah, I do agree that it wouldn't be good to get it super duper short on the sides. I kind of want...more hair than that??

Anyway there are some shorter pixies that I like, some more medium length ones, and some longer ones, so I was thinking if I did get a pixie cut I could try out all three and get it short at first and then transition to longer ones as it grew out and I got it cut more times.

Thanks for the thoughts!

You would look FABULOUS!! It would be really easy to take care of. I had short hair a couple of times. I liked it, and you would too, Leafy!!

I donate my hair every couple years and get it cut chin length. Not really sure if that's the kind of pixie cut you're talking about, but I really like it. It seems to look a little differently every time, but I think that's probably just me.

Let us know what kind of style you go for in the end! And remember- hair grows back!

Yes I best you would look cool with a pixie cut. I've been kinda considering cutting my hair short next summer, but I don't know. I feel like I might look cute with the pixie cut, but then it would be bad if I tried to grow it out again. :P

I have a pixie cut with an undercut underneath. If you want to have low-maintenance hair, GET AN UNDERCUT. Seriously. You can't even see it, but it will make your life a lot easier. Believe me.

Short hair tends to be puffier and fluffier, so if you don't want that to happen, I would not cut your hair shorter. Instead I would get layers. Layers are usually pretty expensive, but they will help with the puffiness.

Asymmetrical faces are fine with pixie cuts. Pretty much any face shape can pull off a pixie, especially rounder or square faces. If you have a triangle face, it might be a bit trickier but if you get it shaped right it's totally possible.

Short hair can be hard to take care of. While there is less hair overall, its shape can make it hard to wash.

Short hair can take a lot of styling in certain cases. Depends on face shape/hair thickness.

However, I would get one because they definitely make your head feel lighter and they are a nice change. Besides, they look really cool!

I get a ton of my hair cut off every two years or so to donate it, and I normally get sort of a wedge shape. The back is really short, and the sides sort of gradually get longer to the longest part in the front which falls just above the chin. I don't think that's a pixie cut, but I love short hair in general because it's usually so much easier to take care of and looks really cool. I think you'd look great with a pixie cut!

I had a pixie once and now i think i just have regular short hair, but I'm not really sure what the definition of a pixie cut is. I say go for it! It's pretty fun to have short hair, and pixie cuts generally look good.
The only thing about short hair is that now my bedhead is a lot worse and sometimes i have to put water on it to fix it. But it's just nice! It looks cool and i can run my hands through it and all that stuff.
And I agree, short on the sides and long on the top hair is very cool.

I have a pixie cut, and I love it!

First, you probably will have to take some time to style short hair. It can sometimes be more of a pain than longer hair. If you're into it and you want to have it loom really nice, then you're going to have to style it every morning.

I can't deny that it's easier to take care of! However if you have curly/wavy hair, getting a pixie cut can make it do some really crazy stuff. My hair is slightly wavy, and it gets a little wack sometimes. I'd recommend blow-drying your hair after you shower (I know from experience that air-drying gets to be weird).

Most people you see with pixies probably used some sort of product to get it to look that way, be warned. The poofy-and-fluffiness of your hair would probably require some maitenance if you got if short. I'm not trying to scare you out of it; pixie cuts are amazing! This is more of a forewarning.
