Chatterbox: Down to Earth

CBer Student Lounge!

CBer Student Lounge!

Hey guys! With school starting, I thought I'd create this place to take a break from homework and talk about school! Here you can compare classes, post notes, get help on different subjects, share essays, rant about online school, and procrastinate your schoolwork.

What classes are you guys taking this year? I'm going into 10th grade, which is insane! I'm also taking my first AP, which is kind of nervewracking. My school started last week, and we are doing full time zoom calls :(. Here are my classes:

- AP Art History

- Mandarin II

- Humanities II

- Honors Chemistry

- Advanced Algebra

- Product Design

- Fashion Design

- Spiritual Exploration

I hope some of you guys have the same classes so we can study together! Hope to see you in the lounge!

That really sucks. Just don't worry about being annoying and ask her again. That's what I always do even if I'm being annoying....

Ugh that's so annoying. Teachers shutting down ideas makes me so frustrated.

If you still want to do fireworks, may I suggest child labor and fireworks? A lot of fireworks are produced using child labor in Guatemala, China, and El Salvador. The firework industry is very dangerous (especially for children!) because they have to work with gun powder and other explosives. There are a lot firework factory related accidents you would research too. Just an idea! I hope you figure out your project!

Hello lol! This place looks great!

I go to a tiny private school, and I'm in eighth grade :D Rn I'm taking:

Humanities (basically historyxliteraturexsocial studies?)

Algebra (bleaaah)

Latin (is fun)

Theology (also great)

Logic (very cool and helpful since our education at our school is very debate-oriented)

Music (simple as usual)

Art (I don't feel much like I need this? But oh well)

No science this year which is sad :( But Logic is good so its fine.

Majestic Mary, I agree, just talk to the teacher again or email them. I know that can be hard, and teachers not listening are really annoying, but it is their job to answer questions and help you understand the material better.

So I have kinda a problem. I've sent two or three emails to my friend over the last four weeks and all of them have had a direct question about homework because they're the only person I know in several classes. My friend hasn't replied to any of the emails and I'm pretty sure its because they don't use email. I want to ask for their phone number because I know thats a better way to contact them but it kinda seems like they don't want to interact with me so I feel werid about asking.

Does anyone have any advice?

I think you should start with, "Hi, I need some help with this homework. Do you want to work on it together later?" or, "Hi, I was wondering if you could help me with this homework? It doesn't make sense to me/etc." and then go from there.

No idea if that was helpful, sorry, but that's my advice.

I moved to an area that goes to a different school than the one I have been going to for my whole life, but we moved there after the school year started and still owned our old house when school started, but my principal has been known to "bend the rules", so we weren't allowed to tell anyone for like a month 'cause she could technically kick us out, and the only reason we decided to stay at our old school was because I wanted to graduate with all my friends but next year my sister will go to the other school but I will go to middle school and it is the same one.

Sorry for the rant.

Update on my essay: I have discovered a newfound interest in my topic, and a better way to present the idea. So I'm much happier now. Thanks for the suggestions and support, ppl.

Aaaaanyway, these are the classes I'm taking this year:

Math 1

Social Studies (ugh)

Science (best teacher ever)

Language arts (difficult class but still fun)

Religion (I go to a Catholic school)

Spanish

I go to school 2 days a week and am online the rest. It's an ok combo, but I'd rather be going to school full time, and be in a class that I actually have friends in. Like, I have friends in my class right now, but all my close friends are in another class with SIX PEOPLE. And my class has seventeen. Ughtastic.

That's it for now, you'll be seeing me around here more, and hopefully I'm not ranting in every comment I post on here.

Is it just me, or are science teachers always wonderful?

Ikr? All my teachers this year are kinda stereotypical in my opinion (Chem=fun/helpful/strict-ish?, Spanish=no-nonsense/chatty, Geometry=laid back/interactive, etc.). Idk if this is the same as any of you guys, but I feel like it's a thing for me, at least.
