2 Questions!!! :)

1.  My neighborhood is having a block party and my sister and I are in charge of the games for the kids. Any ideas for outdoor games? Kids are from ages 1-15.  We are thinking about chalk and things to play catch.  Anything else?

2. I know it is pretty early, but does anyone have any ideas on what to be for Halloween?  My family doesn't go out and buy costumes, so does anyone have any good HOME-MADE costume ideas?

Well, Sand maybe?  Play-dough?  Paint?

I don't know.  I make my costumes, too.  I made a thread a few months ago about this, I think.  Um, I have NO idea what I'm going to be.  I was thinking of just putting a crazy outfit on and call myself something.

You could have a hula hoop contest!  Those are always fun....

Uh... I'm not sure about halloween... I think I'll get back to you on that one.  Maybe.  :)

For the block party, I'd suggest an arts and crafts table for little kids, they tend to a) be effective and b) keep young children out of parents' hair, especially if it's supervised.

For Halloween... well, I'm being a ninja-assassin-y type thingy, I think, because ninjas and assassins are very wonderful. To me anyway. "Good ideas" would probably include, um, well... I dunno. But some don'ts would be candy corn fairies and things that no one can identify.

Garbled, I know. Sorry. :/

Um... You could play Swim Fisshies Swim.... If you know how to play that...

I have been several things for Halloween, including princess, harlequin, Pippi Longstocking, witch, and a not-very-succesful fairy. I don't have any ideas for this year, though. Normally I use dress-up items, random cloths, any clothing that fits the theme, and makeup to create the desired effect. (Buuut, my witch and princess costumes were bought. (when I was like 5))

For the older kids, chalk a big grid onto a driveway and play human chess.

For the younger kids, trace their shadows in chalk at the beginning, then hours later so they can see how their shadows move.

Take super close-up photos of things in your yard. Show the pictures to everyone, and the first person to find what it is wins. (If there's someone with a buzzed head, a close-up of that is really hard to figure out. *evil laugh*)

Divide into two teams and give each a toilet paper role. First team to get theirs completely unrollled and rerolled (neatly) wins. Check with your mom first.

Have the younger kids race (maybe around a driveway) balancing something on their heads - a beanbag, maybe.

Okay, I'm a little too late for the block party ideas, but I have some halloween ideas!

#1. Vending machine! Tape pieces of black paper to cardboard, then glue on little snack things and empty drink bottles. Make a snack collector at the bottom to put your candy in.

#2. Grapes. Tape purple or green balloons in the shape of a grape. Tape some darker green ones on top.

#3. Hippie! Tie die clothes, wig... anything hippie-ish

#4. Ummmmmmmm, I gotta go now. I'll be back with more ideas!

*sings* I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!

#4. Refrigerator. Paint a big box white and add some "handles". Magnets or calenders would make it look like a real fridge.

#5. R2D2 Star Wars droid. My little sister was this one time. We took a white sheet of poster board, colored it to look like R2D2 with red, black, and blue sharpies, and wrapped it around her in a cylinder shape and hung it from her shoulders with string. Then we took an old white bike helmet, colored the same as the poster board, and put that on her. This one would work better for a little kid, though.

If I think of any more or see good ones on the inter net, I'll tell you. Hope this helped! :):):)
