Chatterbox: Down to Earth

My friend just

My friend just told me she's getting her own laptop. And that she now has a job working at a nursery. And that she will make more than 600 bucks in a year. And how she already has that much in her bank account. How is it that I get (occasionally, if Dad remembers) 10 dollars a month allowence and she gets that much a week??! She's 14. Our family is not poor, and I think I might want a laptop even more than she does considering how much time I'm on the computer, and how I make websites and stuff....  her dad even offered to buy the laptop for her at first but then they decided she should pay for most of it. I honestly don't think they are any "richer" than we are. (?)Ugh. Jealousy. In this friendship I feel jealous a lot I think. It's mostly my fault. I mean she slightly brags but it doesn't seem that intentional and it's so subtle. I wish I could stop being jealous! :(

This is so weird. I went to church today (sorry people this post is getting really long and perhaps annoying to some of you) and the reading from the Bible was that "The love of money is the root of all evil." one.  No kidding. If anyone read this post up to here, thanks. Hee hee hee :).

So I'm guessing this is why people keep diaries? ;)

Anonymous, just tell yourself that your perfect the way you are, you don't need anything fancy to be her friend, and besides, you'll probably have a lot of fun on it WITH her! And she's working to earn that money. Good luck! I only get my laptop  until the end of the school year :(

Er, well, I don't know what to tell you... :\ Save

up, if you want a laptop, and eventually you'll

have enough. Trust me, if you save it'll build

up fast. I get 7 dollars a week (if I'm not on

one of my procrastinating sprees *grr*) and,

if you don't get tempted to spend it on other

things, you'll have alot. But, about the jealousy,

I don't know if I have any advice for you. You

could tell her how you feel, I guess, but that

might only make her mad at you. And if she

really isn't trying to brag then it isn't really her

fault. If she does get to the point, though, that

she starts bragging constantly then you have

the right to tell her how it's bugging you. Just

focus on your friendship and the jealousy will

most likely go away eventually. That can be

really normal. :)

PS~ And yes, this is why people keep diaries. ;D
