Music Thread

This is a thread about music. You can say what song you have stuck in your head, talk about a new song that you found, or even ask for recommendations. You can chat about your favorite music artists and your favorite songs. Anything that is music related goes. It's sort of like the random thoughts thread but about music.

Songs that give you a seratonin boost

No Control by One Direction-especially when you do the dance with it, which was choreographed by James Corden and can be found in the James Corden One Direction carpool karaoke music video.

Best Song Ever by One Direction-especially when you watch the music video, they're all hilarious in the acting part at the beginning, and then they have the time of their life just completely wrecking the office space. I've almost memorized the dance at the end.

Drag Me Down by One Direction-especially if you watch the part in carpool karaoke where Harry's voice fails. Just watch the entire carpool karaoke, you won't regret it. Also the dodgeball segment. Also they filmed this music video at NASA, and they are the only band NASA has ever given permission to do that, and it's super cool.

Steal My Girl by One Direction-especially the music video, which I can't even explain but Danny DeVito plays the director. It is absolutely amazing.

What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction-especially the music video, this was their first song after they came off the X Factor, so in the music video they're all still in their baby teenager phase and it is so adorable.

One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks) by One Direction-especially the music video, they made this one themselves while on tour so they could donate the money they saved to charity, and it is absolutely hilarious.

Live While We're Young-especially the music video, they get to make absolute goofballs of themselves, and Louis drives a tractor so fast Harry's hair gets straightened. He also broke it, just like he broke the car in the WMYB video where he gets pulled over for driving too slow, and like he broke the FAKE PROP car in the Kiss You music video. How does he still have a driver's license?

On an unrelated note, I had 4 One Direction-related breakdowns yesterday. Go listen to Walls by Louis Tomlinson, it will make you cry, it's so good.

Ok I recently got into heavy metal and some of its thirteen bajillion sub-genres. I found a cool playlist on spotify called Metal essentials, and started listening. I really really liked pretty much all the songs. And then Duality by Slipknot came on. Let me start off by saying the entire song is a bop. It's great. BUT THAT INTRO. THAT INTRO. It literally gave me chills.

So far today I've only been listening to Billie Eillish on repeat, but now I'm switching it up to Beyonce.

I love music threads! :)

I play percussion in band and it's a good time. I have an electric drum kit which is AWESOME. I also take voice lessons, and in non-covid years I'm in choir and the musical.

I'm also That One Kid who has really pretentious music tastes. I like folk mostly. My favorite artist, as I've said 1000 times and have probably annoyed people with so bear with me, is Gregory Alan Isakov. I'm in love with his song Mercury (and how it evolved into Buried in the Waves), but unofrtunately it hasn't been released and I fear it never will be.

I also like Sleeping at Last, Bear's Den, Hozier, and Mumford and Sons a lot. And musicals of course! Willow is definitely my favorite, but I also like DEH, Hamilton, Les Miz, Into the Woods, and anything Averno.

I started learning the dance for the chorus of Likey (by Twice) and it's actually surprisingly easy.

Also, Astrid by Glaive is so good <3 <3

It's sort of funny because a few months ago, I was like "Yeah, I don't really listen to music." "Yeah, I don't really get how people listen to music all the time."

And now I have a playlist of almost 90 songs and am constantly listening to music. I was wrong, music is actually really good.
