Chatterbox: Down to Earth

I'm going to

I'm going to make a time capsule! Has anyone else ever made one, and if so, could you give me ideas on what to put in it?

My family made one on January 1, 2000, with the idea that it would be opened on January 1, 2050. I don't remember what we put in it. It's just an old staionery box. Good ideas are a current newspaper article (or the whole paper in a bigger capsule), a magazine, a current fad toy, anything that says "2009" to you. Plus a photo of you and your family. We keep ours in the trunk with our Christmas decorations. So far we've resisted the temptation to open it early.

My brother did once and just stuck in random things that he liked - a Lego minifig,  a pencil so small the point started directly after the eraser, and a couple other dodads. It wasn't a serious time capsule, though. Put in anything that suggests your way of life, your hobbies, the culture you live in.

When I was in the fisrt grade the entire elementary

school did one. Well, one for each class, anyway. ;)

I think what we put in it was a picture of ourselves

at the time and something else  of ours (like a toy

or something). And then (in fifty years) we get to

open it up again. But you could probably think of all

kinds of things to put in it. :) Good luck! I'll be back

with better ideas later, if I can think of any. ;)
