Oh, the poor polar bears with this thirty-six degree weather! Our poor glaciers! THEY'RE MELTING! Evil evil humans, destroying nature with their nasty "technology" and "progress"...

And yes, that was sarcasm.

Maybe I shouldn't make up my mind. If I decided to believe in global warming, I would find  that very offensive.

Global warming is not a hoax. It is being caused by a combination of human-produced greenhouse gases and the regular patterns of the earth's rotation around the Sun. It is true, the Earth is coming a bit closer to the sun but that's normal. Humans are producing far too many greenhouse gases that pollute.

P.S. This is a randomized tangent from the bottom of my brain. Do not be offended. I love snow.

-"Global warming" is politics, not science.

-If not for the constant *pattern* of the Earth heating up and cooling down, America would be covered in ice.

-The Earth has been warming up for centuries; why is it suddenly a problem?

-By the by, polar bear populations have actually gone up over the past few decades; there are statistics to prove this.

-There are also statistics to prove that the gradual heating/cooling of the Earth is a cycle, not a sign that evil humans are going to cause the apocalypse and kill all the polar critters.

I mean this with all respect; please do not be offended.

Look, mate, I agree that pollution is rampant and horrible and needs to be stopped. However, I think the people who are making vast amounts of money over the "global warming" shtick need to get over themselves, admit that global temperatures have been /declining/ for years now, and that we need to stop worrying about cooking ourselves to death with our nasty "greenhouse gases" and start admitting that the real issue is that we're pumping harmful chemicals into the ground, the water, and the air, which obviously negatively impacts the environment (including us!) as a whole.

You know, if they did that, /no one/ would be arguing that it isn't a problem. Talk to anyone who (like me) think GW/CC is a ridiculous money-making political mess, and they will readily admit that a) pollution is a definite problem and b) needs to be addressed, as soon as possible. Yes?

Also, I love snow too. Except in June, then I don't like snow.

@Mary: Don't forget that global temperatures have, in fact, been dropping for a decade now. Besides which, sunspot cycles are delayed for some reason and the last time that happened was an exceptionally cold period that lasted for several decades (circa 1790's).

Again, I'm really not sure whether or not I believe in global warming, but I do agree that we probably ought to focus more on what we really know is a problem (pollution, etc) before addressing what may be a problem (global warming). That's just logic!

@ Mary Liz:  I'm sorry, but... well... could you please try to be a bit more, um... *tries to think of an unoffensive word* polite? I know lots of people who believe in global warming, and none of them are hypocritical enough to say that humans are evil. I know you aren't trying to offend anyone, but... well...
