The World Soccer

The World Soccer

The World Soccer Cup has begun!!!! Who else is watching it? I've been watching a game more or less every day (this is another very good reason for being homeschooled - from time to time you don't have to worry about "But we're supposed to  be studying our history..."). Portugal-Ghana was one of the most exciting games, and so was Mexico-Poland (I was going for Mexico and Portugal, because Ronaldo can be terribly nice...I utterly don't like him. And I'm putting in far too many things in italics, but never mind.)

Anyhow, I'm just ranting on here lol, this thread is for talking about the World Cup games! :)

Why have I not seen this thread before? Major upset with Argentina and Saudi Arabia. Who do you think will win the whole thing?

Yes I do not understand what happened with Argentina and Saudi Arabia. Maybe Argentina just got too cocky and thought it would win really easily and didn't try hard enough? But it won against Mexico... *sigh* As to who's going to win, I think the Spanish might, they play beautifully.

Admin, could you please change the title of the thread to The World Soccer or The World Soccer Cup instead of The Soccer World, which sounds rather silly?

Done.

They really do. I watched them tie with Germany today.

As for winning, I think Brazil, but England, Spain, and France are all also very good.

i agree about Ronaldo. he's so nice!! *faints* I wish i knew him irl. it's sad to like a person who literally doesn't even know you exist.

Yes, the Saudi Arabia-Argentina thing was so surprising! It was kind of a foregone conclusion that "oh, sure, Argentina will win, I mean they have Lionel Messi for goodness' sakes," and so on, and then they lost! But then this World Cup is being pretty surprising in a lot of things.

I have no idea who will win. Maybe France... I'd kind of like Spain to win, though. My favorite teams are Spain, France, England, and Portugal. (Four favorite teams? oh well) I watched Portugal-Uruguay today. It was exciting, because I didn't like the Uruguay team that much, so I was like "no no don't let them win pleeeease!" Tomorrow I plan to see the US vs Iran, which will be... kind of a tense game, probably. @Wildsong, I saw the Spain-Germany game too! I find it really nice to think that we were both watching the same thing at the same time.

Anyone else watching the World Cup? @Admin, might you have seen any games by any chance? :)

I haven't yet this year, but I do plan to watch the USA/Iran game on Tuesday.

I wish I could watch the US/Iran game, but I'm busy. England is very good. I watch Premier League every week when it's not the World Cup so I know almost all of the players. Do you have a favorite?

I watched half of the US/Iran game at school—they offered it during lunch/recess—but AS I WAS GETTING LUNCH THEY SCOREDDDDD and I MISSED IT I'm so mad. I stopped watching at half time though, lunch ended ):

I don't watch much, my parents are very no-screens, but if it's offered again at school I'll definitely watch it. I'm jelous of y'all homeschoolers (:

@Hex, oh my gosh, missing the goal does sound awfully irritating! At least you got to see some of the game, though. It's amazing (at least for me) that your school was showing soccer games at lunch. I can't imagine my local school doing that. :( (I'm homeschooled, though.)

Maybe your parents would let you watch the highlights of the soccer games? After a game has happened, there are videos online of the highlights, basically just the goals and fouls and attempts at goals. They don't take long to watch.

@WiLdSoNg, I guess my favorite players are... well, I've always liked Harry Kane. And I'll watch any game that has Cristiano Ronaldo in it! There are also players that I don't exactly like, but I enjoy watching them anyway because I'm familiar with them and they start to feel a bit like old friends. For some reason I can never be very interested in a game without any players I "know." :) Do you have any favorite players?

I enjoy watching Brazil, and players like Richarlison and Casemiro. I also like watching Saka and Xhaka and De Bruyne.

@Everyone, who do you think will win the whole thing?

@WiLdSoNg, I watched the Brazil-Korea game yesterday. You're right that Brazil might win! I like the way they play. I hadn't seen them play in this World Cup, so I was surprised that they were so good.
