Does anyone else like classical music? Or play a orchestral instrument? I have been playing the violin for 6 years and have grown to really like it. My favorite piece of classical music is Waltz No. 2 by Shostakovich.

I've been playing cello for 3(?) years now (I started when covid hit!) and I love ALL the pieces we play, including the ones everyone else doesn't, but my FAVORITE favorite to play is Monster Mambo, I get really into it when I play. I also like playing Storm bc when I do, it makes me feel SO powerful, which is nice. Some other songs: Effervescence, Dragon Dances, Dragon Slayer, Finlandia, Tsumasaki, Japanese Lullaby, Prelude and Gavotte, Luna, Moonlit Skies, Hunter's Chorus, Mo Li Hua, March (from the Nutcracker), and others that I can't remember rn.

Pizzacato or arco? Pizz for me!

Wow, Dragon Dances is also one of my favorite songs! Oh, and I can play Hunter's Chorus, it's one of the songs in the Suzuki method. I know the Nutcracker really well, because I was in a show of it for 5 years, but 8 have never played it. I don't really know all the other songs you mentioned.

Parlez-vous français?? Sorry if you don't, I saw you used the French word for cello.

I play piano and violin. (Piano for 6y and violin for 1y). I'm great at piano (estimated playing level at 4 Henle and 8 RCM) and can play a few Chopin and Liszt pieces (you heard me right). I'm not as good at the violin, but I am a respectable violinist and can play some Brahms and Grieg.

I am really into composers right now. Fun facts about some composers
Chopin - He had a fear of being buried alive, so one of his dying wishes was for his heart to be removed after his death and sent back to Poland. His sister was put in charge of such transportation.
Beethoven - Arguably his most famous piece, Für Elise, was written for his crush named Elise. Alas, Elise was part of the aristocracy and at the time princesses couldn't marry musicians.
Haydn - He was known to his students as "Papa Haydn" because he was a gentle, kind, and father like figure to his students.
Mozart - He wrote 626 pieces in his relatively short life.
Liszt - His pieces are known for being exceptionally difficult to play, and thus "easy" and "Liszt" are rarely said in the same sentence. I can play one, though. (It's "Trübe Wolken (Nuages Gris)" ).

I also play penny whistle :) I learned to play in just ten-fifteen minutes.

Thx for the facts!!

And I've been playing piano for... *quickly calculates years*, about 8 years now, but I just do it for fun, and in order to be able to play all these songs that are cool. And just to play piano bc playing piano is also just... plain fun! And it's cool to bang the keys randomly or compose your own songs, and pianos are just rly convenient too, they don't require a lot of set up like cellos, I'll just sit down when I'm late to school and am waiting for my brother to find his water bottle or something and play a quick tune!

cool! BTW, Chopin is my new classical music idol. I have a big Chopin repertoire. It includes:

Waltz No. 19 in A minor (Op. Post)

Mazurka in C major

Prelude in A major

I've played the piano for like...5 or 6 years, but I'm still not that good at it. I definitely need more practice. But it's still pretty great whenever I manage to play a song perfectly.

Wow, I wish I could play the piano, my other favorite song, Dance of the Knights is really hard on the violin, and I think it sounds its best on the piano.
