Endangered Species Club!!

Endangered Species Club!!!

so, I noticed that there have been many (or at least enough to make me think this) environmental threads here (counting back from when I first joined), so yesterday, I was like, "I know I already started one club on the CB, but why not start another?" because I think it's awesome to spread awareness and talk about issues, but why not also take action? So, if you all want to do this, how I'm thinking this'll go is: maybe instead of a monthly club like the book club, a biweekly club (every two weeks)? And each week, we have a new theme in the form of an endangered species (animal, plant, other). We can share tips and facts, research, make artwork, write about them, discuss, make a challenge to educate at least one person who didn't already know about that species each day, form petitions, make crafts, whatever (open for ideas!) and then after those two weeks are up, someone can suggest a new species!

and, just because, here's a form

Name:

Suggested creature(s):

Suggested Idea(s): (see below)

It's fine if you can't make it/don't have enough time to contribute or whatever! Join in whenever you can/want!

Some ideas we could do as a club~

1. Species merch (making it or sharing what we currently have)

2. Species informational fact sheets/slideshows/presentations

3. Species research/fun facts

4. Species discussion (e.g. how can we make a difference to this species)

5. Species fanart/fanfiction (for lack of a better term)

7. Species challenge: educate at least one person who didn't know about the species per day about the species, tell them how they can help and spread the word!

8. Maybe pick organizations to donate to/help in some way???

9. Craft a petition

10. Boycott something (e.g. say no to Mexican shrimp!! Help save the vaquita!!)

pls give some more suggestions!!

btw, if there's a species you're really passionate about but missed the discussion about it, feel free to make your own thread or put a comment on the current page with a link to the past discussion page, and resume the discussion (please try not to turn the conversation of the current species on the current page to a conversation about the species you want to talk about, all of them deserve a spotlight of their own!), thank you! (Also, if you want to spark a new discussion, maybe we can try to do that species again if everyone's ok with it??)

you may fill out the form (again if you want) anytime!

@admins, is there an endangered species that you're really passionate about?

I don't single out one over another. I think they're all important!

Name: Darkvine

Suggested creature(s): Monarch Butterflies (I'll add more later)

Suggested Idea(s): caution-tape off patches of milkweed with a sign saying 'BUTTERFLY FOOD- DO NOT CUT' or go up to random people and tell them not to get rid of milkweed, because it's the only thing that Monarch Caterpillars eat.

Name: CelineBurning Bright/Celine

Suggested creature(s): vaquita, saola, yangtze giant softshell River turtle, more later. So how d'you all want to pick what animal?? I didn't rly think about that part sorry

Suggested Idea(s): (see below) - maybe if there's a school newspaper publish an endangered animal of the bi-week thingy? Or hang up posters at school? Wear a T-shirt around! And I think we could make posters and post the pictures and ppl who don't have time could print out those pictures for posters, right? But posters also take paper which are trees.. so yeah. Ig we could share the posters around online instead? Anyways, I'll post some pictures later!
