@pangolin, honestly, I just study at night when I'm supposed to be sleeping :/ but best of luck with your schedule and learning (wow!) Japanese, Irish, and German, and please do not stay up into the night like I do trying to get more fluent as fast as I can bc ackk we're going to Tai Wan soon!

@Sine, ooh, that sounds amazing!! Please share!

@Jaybells, same! Your language sounds really interesting (in an awesome way) too! I would love it if you could share some if you'd like?

@Poinsettia, glad you think so! :D Ooh I'd LOVE to be able to write poems in Mandarin, but it just doesn't really work, don't know why. Actually yes, I do. Probably bc of my limited vocabulary. :/ But great that you can write poems in Spanish (which colloquial Mexican Spanish sounds absolutely lovely btw), and yess your desert conlang is also awesome!

@Silver, ooh, that sounds cool! And, yess, those frustrating characters!! However, there are roots and other characters in characters too so whewf it isn't all just random (e.g. you prob already know all this but I'll say it anyway, word for "drink" contains the word for "mouth", lots of word related to water include the "water" root, lots of words related to humans have the "person" root, etc.). Just wanted to make that clear bc I forgot to mention it in my last post too! :)

I'm not done with my language yet, but when I do, I'll publish it and give you the title. So that it's not personal info, I will sign it under Aldam Shalam (Person of peace or Mr. Peace)

Admins would it be fine if we created our own CB language, where the vocab list doesn't exceed the limits so you can be sure it's appropriate?

No. I'm sorry, but keeping up with comments in English is all we can handle.

No, I mean that the vocab list won't exceed CB limits so that you won't have to check translations. Would that even work?

We only read comments in English. We don't have time to check words in another language against any vocabulary list.

WHAT I MEAN IS THAT THE WORDS IN THE VOCAB LIST WONT EXCEED LIMITS SO YOU DONT EVEN HAVE TO CHECK IT TO MAKE SURE ITS APPROPRIATE! WOULD YOU GET UPSET AT ME FOR USING BRITISH INSTEAD OF AMERICAN ENGLISH? HERE...THE LORRY CLUB ARE PULLING INTO THE CRISPS CENTER ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD.

Please don't type in all caps. British is English. Admin needs to understand the meaning of what is submitted. We're familiar with both American and British English.

How about we just invent a vocabulary list, but don't use it on chatterbox, then one of us publishes it in the real world under an anonymous name such as their CB name, so that everyone can share in the CB world project? Would that be fine?

That seems OK, but we can't assure you now that we would advertise on Chatterbox something published elsewhere.

Yes, but Admins, although you don't give direct links to websites, you allow CBers to advertise names of books they've read. And actually, what we're doing is advertising elsewhere what we've done on Chatterbox, and looking at our work.

Here is a full list of the languages I know, by CEFR level:

C2- English

C1- Toki Pona

B2 - Hebrew

B1 - French

A2- Japanese, Russian, Esperanto, Norwegian

A1- Spanish

By language family:

Indo-European:

Germanic:

North Germanic: Norwegian

West Germanic: English

Italic: French, Spanish, Esperanto

Slavic: Russian

Afro-Asiatic: Hebrew

Japonic: Japanese

Language isolates: Toki Pona

However, I will need to brush up on my Japanese.

By the way, a good resource for all of learning languages is the "Teach yourself" "Complete" books. The title starts with "Complete", and then ends with the name of the language. For example, I'm learning Norwegian through "Complete Norwegian". Also, there is a litle tag called "Teach Yourself" which is an AMAZING brand.

Oh this is cool! I know a bit of Polish and Korean because of my family and I speak it with my family. I love the feeling of communitcating in a language most can'tunderstand. Its awesome because when my mom says something embarresing in Korean, like what is that smell? at the store no one understands. I really like the flow of the words and I want to be more emmeresed in Korean and Polish. (sorry for the bad spelling)

No, your spelling was fine! The only language I can communicate with my mom in is Hebrew, but it does work because when she doesn't want surrounding people to hear, she speaks in Hebrew.

Joe Cool says khona. It sounds like some kind of hebrew word.
