World Parkinson's day

World Parkinson's day

Today, April 11, is World Parkinson's day, commemorating the victims of the disease and advocating for the search for the cure.

Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the substantia nigra, the region that deals with movement, by overwhelming it with toxic proteins like Lewy bodies, causing symptoms like slow movement, shaky hands, and difficulty balancing. My paternal grandfather was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2012, a year before I was born, and lived with it for nine years before he died in 2021.

May the victims of Parkinson's rest in peace, and may the amazing doctors and scientists working for a cure be continuously stocked with enough funds to reach the critical breakthrough.
