FLL STATE COMPETITION!!!

FLL STATE COMPETITION!!! COOOL!!!

Does anyone belong to a FLL team? In Illinois? We are a rookie team and we won the Rookie Award. We are going to State! Just wondering, is anyone from Ilego on here? They were nice.

Omigosh you do FLL? Kake and I did that last year and the year before! We got first place rookie team the first year, then the second year we won first place overall, and got third overall in state! This year we're doing FTC (First Tech Challenge) though because some members of our team have been fourteen since September and therefore aren't eligible for FLL. FTC has larger robots (18"x12"x18" to be exact) and we only have 30 seconds of pre-programmed movement. The rest is controlled by a joystick. The goal is to collect wiffle (sp?) balls and shoot them into your goal. It's super fun and we love it! Good luck in FLL, though! I liked that much better than FTC, and that's saying something since FTC is pretty cool...have fun!

Now we can like....talk about it and no one else will have any idea what the heck we are talking about!Wink Yay! it feels good to be different!

In our research presentation we are doing a skit, and I got the part of scientist. That means (whoopee!) I get to memorize all this fancy data and the names of different companies. Actually, I get the most lines of anyone in the skit, so I sorta like it.

Yay! Last year we did a children's book, which was pretty cool. It also meant: No memorizing lines!!! *squee*

I'm kinda confused here.  Can someone explain what a FLL team is??  I'm left in the dust.  It sounds pretty cool whatever it is!

You know Mindstorms Legos? Well, you have to build and program a robot to do certain tasks on a board. For each task (challenge) you get a certain number of points. You try to complete as many challenges as possible. Another aspect of it is the presentation. You have to research on a subject within the year's theme, and present it to the judges in some way. You are scored on such things as Knowlege, Understanding of Scientific Terms, Group Inclusion, and Presentation. The ones with the highest scores win.

I'm in FLL, too! We didn't win the practice one, but we're practicing real hard for the rookie tournament! Our team is the SmartBots 2!
