Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Okay, I just

Okay, I just wanted to let you know that I got contacts!  They make me quite happy, and my eyes look REALLY blue now.  Sooo, yeah, if you come to Maine and are looking for a 13 year old girl with blond hair and glasses, you won't find me. (: Anyway, I think I want to see a 3D movie now, because it's hard to watch 3D movies both with the 3D glasses and normal glasses. :)

YEAH!  Cool!  I *somewhat* recently got contacts too and I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!  *sings*  It is so nice to be able to lie down on the couch without glasses poking into your face /kinda random/.  Anyway, it just makes everything more comfortable AND I can see when I play soccer!!!

I am so boring. I have not ever (And won't, at least for a long time) needed glasses, or braces, or broken any bones... :)

But anyway, congratulations!

Nice! I personally don't especially want to get contacts, I like my glasses, but I'm happy for you.

Awsome!!!!!!  Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Yah, my mom was talking about how she didn't know how well her glasses would work for Avatar.... :p

(Don't you hate it when you run over your own toe with the door?  OUCH!!)

I bet you look great!!  Although, I'm sure you looked fine with your glasses too.  :)  My mom used to wear contacts, but she said they bugged her eyes too much.  Sadly our family tends to have ingrown eyelashes.  Bleh.

Anyway, I'm SOOOO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!!  I'm glad they're working out all right for you!!!!!  Yay!

Do you freak yourself out when you look in the mirror???

Random Facts About Contact Lenses:

Leonardo Da Vinci was the first person to actually think of the idea in 1508, and do sketches of them, but they weren't 'fabricated' until 1887, by a German glass blower named F.A. Muller, who used a design from 1827, a mold designed by the astronomer, Sir John Herschel.

Not long after that, A.E. Fick, and Edouard Kalt, physician and optician, made them able to be made differently for nearsightedness, or farsightedness.  But the lenses covered the whole front surface of the eye, and were made of such thick glass, they they could only be tolerated for a few hours at a time.

In 1936, William Feinbloom introduced plastic lenses.  But they where only plastic on the edges, they still had a glass center.

Then in 1948 Kevin Tuohy started manufacturing fully plastic lenses which where smaller than others, but still covered the entire cornea.  (I'm not quite sure what part of the eye that is...)

Later the same year, optometrist, George Butterfield improved Touhy's design by making the lenses flatter, therefore, they didn't pop off so easily.

Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, the lenses gradually became thinner and smaller and harder, and the designs are still used today.

There's a bit more info on soft contacts, but I think I've done enough, huh?  If you're really interested, look it up.  :)

I REMEMBER!!!!!!!! she looks really pretty now :) not that she didn't look pretty before, she looks EVEN PRETTIER!!!! hehe sometimes I take off my glasses for the camera...i get annoyed when you can see all that light on my glasses, so you cant see my eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (like with my computers camera, you can see the computer through my glasses!) It annoys me greatly. I also want contacts because it looks more natural, and pretty! :)

Awwww, thanks Maggie! :) And hahahaha, almost every picture on FB of me with glasses, there's a huge reflection on the lenses!  That annoys me so much!  But still, Maggie, you're very pretty with glasses (and you have wicked cute glasses), and I think you should keep them. (:

AWESOME!!!  My whole life, I've been fascinated and creeped out by contacts (mostly the latter) so I admire all those who have them.  Including you!  Yay for you!  Yesterday I saw an IMAX movie in 3D and the whole time, I was wondering how my mom, who has glasses, could stand it.  And I also thought, "Kenzie would be happy with her contacts!"
