So! The Olympics! What are everyone's favorite sports? Who are you cheering for this year? I enjoy watching bobsledding, figure skating, and various downhill skiing events.

Discussion?

(If someone has already made a thread for this, I apologize profusely; I couldn't find it.)

Oh, and does anyone know what the point of curling is?

To get the puck (or whatever it's called) closest to the center of the target.

Zoot

I like figure skating and snowboarding.  I will normally watch anything though.  It's all pretty interesting.  I don't have a certain person I cheer for, I just cheer for USA!!!!

I've only seen figure skating so far.  And some snowboarding.  Somkeone was interviewing a snowboarder last night and the SBer had his hat on in all of the interview.  My mo and I were wondering together why he still had his hat on.  And then he said "...Hat's off..." something something something.  We laughed.  And then the interviewer guy was like "You know, it's pretty warm in here, why keep your hat on?"  the snowboarder, then said, "In winter I wear cool hats."  And *gasp* I know you can't guess what my mom and I did, we...  Giggled.  Ha.  I knew you couldn't guess.  The word never came across your mind, did it?

I like the Olympics.  I remember when they took a GOLD medal away from someone just because she was younger than she was supposed to be.  I wish she could have kept it.

When young I wanted to be a pro figure skater but I lost the desire when I started writing. But that was what I always watched with my mom since way back when. So figure skating is my answer.

p.s. I love Michelle Kwan.

I'm really enjoying the Olympics this year. I'm probably cheering for a different team than everyone on Chatterbox. :P Oh and if you are in Vancouver, Brynne (as your Location says) Welcome to my hometown!!!

I'm enjoying hockey and skiing this year, and my brother and I watched snowboarding today.

Oh, cool, Kendra, that you're at the Olympics in beautiful Vancouver! How exciting it must be to have the games come to  your hometown! Have fun and give us more reports if you like.

Thanks Cricket!

My family had an "Olympic Day" today. We hung out around downtown Vancouver. One word. LINEUPS!!! there is actually a 5 hour line up for the zip line. :O Sadly no one wanted to wait with me, so i didn't get to go on. :P

I especially enjoy watching the figure skating (I love the combination of sport and music) and cross-country skiing (because I enjoy that sport myself). And I don't think I'd want to wait in line for 5  hours, either. Will the zip line be there after the games are over? Maybe you can go sometime when the lines are shorter.

Kendra, I saw the downtown Vancouver zip line on TV today. It looked scary but fun. I don't think I would have had the nerve to try it. Would you have gone if the lines hadn't been so long?

Probably! in real life it doesn't look as fast as on TV. My friends and i are going downtown again but it's a saturday so extra long lines. :/  I haven't been zip-lining before, but it looks like fun. Also the zipline downtown is rather short so it wouldn't be that bad. I enjoy heights (i don't think skydiving is up my ally though) and i really like going fast so i would have liked to try.

I like these Olympics, but I prefer the summer ones because I am a swimmer and love to watch swimming and diving. Anyway, I like watching the speed skating and any skiing. But when I was little, I really liked to watch that "Flying Tomato" guy, and had to watch everything where he competed.

Yeah, overall I think I prefer the summer Olympics, but there have been some pretty cool things to see so far in this one.

I can't seem to make up my mind over summer and winter olympics. On the one hand summer has rowing and horseback riding. And on the other there is hockey.... IT'S TO HARD!!!! :P

Who says you have to choose? Enjoy them both! Did you get to go on the zip line? Congratulations to Canada on the hockey games (men and women)!
