Reading---Though I'm

Reading---Though I'm Uber Busy

I've been really busy lately with projects (2 out of 3 relating to poetry, so I guess that's not so bad) and homework, that my teacher like to pile on.  I've had absolutely no time for reading (not counting last night at 11) and I've been feeling bad because of it.  How does everyone else fit in reading, because I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.  Help!!

My dad thinks everyone has to be a straight-A student, so I have to go to bed a half-hour early every night and read. Which isn't so bad, cuz I don't have to actuallly turn out my light until ten.

See, I push myself so hard anyway, my parents don't see the need to do it themselves. Reading to me is more of a watching TV to others; if I finish my homework and my piano and violin practicing, I can do it.  Which brings me back to my original question.  Thanks for replying!

If you can run on six or seven hours of sleep (happily, I can), there's always the illegally staying up in bed with a flashlight method.

Ahem, that aside, always bring a book to school, and you'll probably be able to read it to and from school (on the car or bus), and once you're done with tests and things.

Don't worry, though--- I often feel the same way. :)

Thanks Mary Liz.  Yeah, I'll definitely bring books to school.  I also have passing periods, and if I hurry to class, I have a little less than 5 precious minutes!  And the problem with me is that I have to get eight or nine hours of sleep to be able to run well, and seven or eight just to stay awake.  I need sleep.  I love not being able to sleep though, only for the sheer joy of being able to read and not worrying about the fact that I could be sleeping.  Again, thanks!

Yeah i've had the same trouble. This January i told myself i would read a book a week. When you set yourself i goal it's amazing were you can fit in time for reading. If a book a week is to much try a book every two. Make it reasonable, but not to easy. I'm not one for goals. (really they annoy me) but this one is rather fun.

I recommend what Mary Liz says about bringing the book to school.  That's where I get most of my reading done, because I squeeze it in whenever I can - when I'm done with an assignment, for instance, or if my teacher is going over a quiz on which I got a 100 and don't need to pay attention.  I also read while eating breakfast, brushing my hair, etc.  If you really want to read, you'll find time for it!

I usually read at night when I'm in my bed, sometimes in the car, and sometimes I'm naughty and read when I'm supposed to be getting ready for the day.

I'm never really super busy, since I'm homeschooled. I have time all day to read, unless Mom wants me to sit down and do some schoolwork.

Sorry I can't be of more help!

I've been having much of the same problem. I ought to be reading a book per day, but I often can't anymore, which bothers me. I still manage to do it most of the time, though. Also, I hate PE, and now that I'm in middle school they let me take both Choir and Theatre Arts (rather than just one of them) instead of PE, as long as I swim for 5 hours per week (the amount of time I'd spend in PE). On top of that, I also post here (obviously). I used to stay up in bed reading with a flashlight, but my mom could always tell when I'd been doing so, and I had to stop. So, finding time to read is hard. Here's what I do.

Whenever I'm doing something that doesn't involve a lot of thinking (or work involving both hands busy), I read as I do it. Eating, brushing hair, going to the bathroom, walking slowly... You get the point. It works. Then again, you're probably much busier than me. But still.

And yes, I always take my book to school. If I didn't, I'd probably have died from lack of reading time by now...

Thanks guys!  I find my time spent reading going up, now.  And Ima, I don't actually think I that busy.  I mean, I have to practice piano and violin and do homework, but it's not like I have sports practice a lot.  See, I only have music and school in my life, and that's it.  I also have this habit of getting distracted and procrastinating (*coughCBcough*).  So it really is my fault.  I recently got a library card and I go to the library more often.  I'm feeling a lot more positive.  And I do this thing for piano where I advance through levels and in February/March, I get evaluated.  I have a theory test and a performance in front of an adjudicator.  I just took my theory test yesterday, so I have a lot of time open that I had filled with taking practice tests.  Now I just have to practice really hard.  And my orchestra concert is today, so I don't have to worry too much about that since we don't get new music until two weeks from now.  Life is good.  Thanks, again!
