Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Winter.  Wow.  I

Winter.  Wow.  I love global warming at the moment.  Of course, the people down in D.C. or whereever probably don't.  Still, I kinda find it funny that people in the south are getting freezing weather and snow (my friend was trying to go to FL for a vacation, and there flight kept getting delayed because of snow in D.C.), but right now, in Maine, it's in the 40's and is pouring rain.  Seriously, it's pouring.  Like in July, it never stopped raining, and right now it basically feels like July right now.  And there's no snow!  I mean, before this rain, there was only like two or three inches of snow and tons of patches of grass, but now it's completely gone.  I'm okay with all this, though, because I dislike snow very much.  But when I eventually move back to Florida, I'd like it to be warm again.  Soooo, anywaaay, what's the messed-up weather like where y'all live?

You're moving back to Florida, Paige?

Here we're getting colder weather than normal, and for a more extended period of time.  Normally, our "winter" temperatures rarely drop below 40 degrees, and "winter" is from November to January.  This year, though, we've had plenty of nights in the thirties (even the occasional one in the twenties) and the cold has persisted from early November to now, with no sign of letting up.  Yes, I know, it's nothing compared to Northern winters, but for Florida, this is the first real winter we've had in several years.

Well, I said eventually.  Probably junior or senior year in highschool.  Because we use the Florida Pre-paid College program thingy so that by my senior year in highschool, my parents will have paid for four years in any Florida state college, but I need to have a year of residency to go to one.  I think I'd like to go to UCF.  Of course, I'm only 13, hahaha.

And wow, your winter down there sounds much more brutal than ours.  I kind of really want to wear longsleeved shirts, but it's too warm.  Sigh.  Perhaps I'll convince my parents to take us down there again...  But how to do so...?  Hm.  I'll think about that.  Have you had any snow at all?  Because it seems as though it's cold enough.

So that rain turned into a storm with lots of wind.  I would tell you the wind's speed, but I can't remember, and I'm not going to make it up, because I'll be completely wrong. (: Anyway, the electricty went out.  Sooo, the next day, my mom tried to make a fire, but she messed up and the whole house filled with smoke.  It was quite gagging.  So we covered the birds with blankets, gave the cat some fresh food, and spent the night at the hotel.  And the next morning we came back, and the electricity was still out (it was colder in the house was colder than it was outside).  Then it finally came on the late that night.  I had a lot of notifications on Facebook, hahaha...
