Well, we moved.

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Well, we moved.

Well, we moved. Drat. Drat drat drat. I loved our old house, especially because of the creek in the backyard. I had a WORLD back there, literally, a whole imaginary world, full of magic and suspense. I knew everything and everywhere and everyone. We had everything figured out.

True, the house needed some work, paint, tub caulking, etc. But I loved it anyway. I miss it so badly.

We've been moving, but the house doesn't feel like home. It will never feel like home.

Little bro, baby sis, mom, dad, and dog all seem to be adjusting fine. It's only me. The backyard is too small and there's no overhang and no railing. But it's too late now.

What really hurts is that there was this one house that I loved, but Mom and Dad decided they didn't. Oh well.

Andy says kgaf. He could say something comforting, but nooo...

Poor u!!!!!!!!!!!! I moved once, and it is REALLY hard!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope u adjust.

I think a new house is exciting—a fresh start. New things to see. Time can't go backward, so look around you and find some things to enjoy.

I'm so sorry, Wolfgirl67!  Did you move to a completely new town, or just a new house?  Your imaginary world sounds really cool.  The great thing about imaginary worlds is that they can be transportable.  You can pretend your world was invaded by...well...something and you had to change locations.  Or you could create a completely new world in your new house, even if it's not the same.  I know it's tough now, but eventually, it'll be easier to look on the bright side.

@Clair: Thanks, I hope so too.

@Old Cricket: Yeah, sometimes it's exciting, but others...sigh.

@Allison: Just a new house. Yeah, it is pretty cool, and the other cool thing about it is that I can pretend it is still at the exact same location as always. But I still miss the old one. *sniffles*

Awww. That's too bad. I've always wanted a house with a creek nearby. When I moved to my house in third grade, all my neighbors were either old or just kinda weird. There isn't a common ground, either or a creek or a cave or woods. But it still feels like home.

AW, that's sad.  It's okay.  I moved across the country, four years ago in May.  From Ohio to Washington.  My family drove!!  We stopped at different places and stayed the night, so it took us 9 days.  Even worse, we moved the DAY BEFORE my birthday.  I was driving on the road on my birthday.  But, my parents surprised me and we stopped at the Mall of America.

We first moved into a rental house... I had to share a full sized bed with my sister, the house was sooo small.  There was no room AT ALL.  But, I really enjoyed my neighborhood, I had friends that would come and play Capture the Flag in our tiny backyard.

We finally found a house, the one I am in right now.  It is twenty times bigger than the rental house, but still not very large.  I wish it were bigger, but I still love it.  I wish you the best.  Thought my story would help you... in a way.  Because, I will probably never see any of my friends in Ohio again.  :(

You may see your old friends again sometime--you never know when or where they they might pop up. You have a lot of years ahead of you. I make a habit of never really saying good-bye to friends who are moving. I just say, Till we meet again.

@Katie: Yeah, you don't know what you're missing until you leave the creek. Funny how that works, huh?

That's really horrible that you had to move.  I guess now that your in a new house, you can start to look for interesting quirks and explore every nook and cranny.  You'll find something to love.  Check out the neighbors and see if there are any kids your age to have fun with.  Try to find out the history of your new house.  I once read a story about someone who had to move from the oceanside to a farm and was devastated.  But she was able to find friends and good things about the farm that made her happier.  So maybe you won't be as happy as you were when you were at your old house, but you'll feel better.  Hope that helps!

@R~D: I moved across the country too one time, all the way from California to North Carolina! I was so sick of restuarant food by the time we got here...DX Blegh.

@Leaf: I read that story too, I liked it. It was comforting. :) Yeah, I'm kind of finding things about the house that I like, you know, here and there.

Andy P. says oppy. I think he meant to say happy. Thanks Andy! :)

Well, I'm sorry you are so sad about it, but I don't think you will never adjust to the house... it just might take a while.  I've moved twice, but the first when I was just a year old, and the second, right after my fourth birthday.  I still miss my old house, but now I can't even imagine living anywhere but here.  I love it.  And I know, it's not the same, I was much younger.  It is a big difference, but like I said, I love my home. :)

I hope it's not too hard on you.  Good luck.  :)

I know how you feel. I had to move once, in first grade. At first I didn't mind, because there was a chance we would move to somewhere awesome and cold (I've neveer liked it here in TX), but we had to just go to another town, and the only real advantage in moving was the large amount of trees here. Therefore, I was pretty disappointed at having to leave all my friends. Everyone said I would just make new ones, but it's been 3 years and I... well, I did, but none of them lasted long at all. I wish we could have stayed.

And I also know how you feel about finding an amazing house that you couldn't live in. One of the houses we looked at had a bedroom with a huge mural of the rainforest on the wall! I wanted that bedroom so badly, but then we discovered that the walls of that house had huge cracks, and other major disadvantages. :(

But, who knows? Maybe the place you moved to will be much better than you expected. And you'll definitely mame friends faster than I will.  I have a bit of trouble with that, so...

But anyway, just try to make the best of things. See how many things there are to enjoy about wherever you moved to.

@Wolfgirl: You can sign off however you like, I don't mind.  I just got really obsessed with the sign, "~"  You have to admit it's awesome!!  Oh, last summer I went on a road trip, and like you, I was seriously tired of restaurant food by the end.

@Clair: It's ok. I used to live way out in California until I was eight, and there were only a few neighbors, so yeah. The whole "bunch of neighbors everywhere" is kind of strange to me too.
