Chatterbox: Down to Earth

We put up

We put up our Christmas decorations today! Yaaay! I don't really know why I'm so utterly excited about that...

When does everyone else put up their Christmas stuff? Do you decorate your room, too? I don't, but my cousin does, and it always looks really cool when she's done. YAAAAY, Christmas!SmileSmileSmileLaughing!!!

While I write this, my two-year-old brother is dancing around with a paper guitar (He's obsessed with music) and singing:

DOO, DOO, DOO, DOO. DOO, DOO, DOO, DOO.

WENT TO A CHANCE, LOOKIN' FOR A MANSE, SAW BARBRA ANN SO I THOUGHT I'D TAKE A CHANCE, BARBRA ANN!

BAR, BAR, BAR, BAR, BARBRA ANN...

I don't think that's quite how the song goes...Laughing

Hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee!!!!  Your brother sounds so cute!!!!  I love two-year-olds!!!! I work at a nursery at my church, and last year I got the two-year-olds!!!!!!  There was this ADORABLE kid named Christian that I LOVE!!! :):) He was sooooo sweet!!! :):):) Fortunately, I got moved up this year, to the three- to five-year-olds, and for some reason, he's still with the little kids (even though they're all little...).  I came to the exit, and he was looking out the glass door, so I said, "Christian!!!!  Jonathan (the other kid who was with him)!!!!! How are you guys?" Christian turned around and gasped, ran over to me, and gave me a huge hug! :):):) He is soooo sweet!!!! :):):)

Anyway, all the decoration that we have yet is the strand of Christmas lights on the brim of the garage.  They're so pretty! :):) Oh, I built a snowman in the 1/4 inch of snow!!!!! :(:(:(:( It melted away, sadly...... :(:(:( Do you have snow in Iowa?  We get our tree the week before Christmas......  Sigh....  I have to wait SOOOO long!!!! :):):):) We have an Advent calender, jingle bells, two Nativity scenes (one that you can play with, and one that's made of glass), and one of those wooden things that twirl when you light the candles.  Oh, we put a green (the color, not environmentally friendly!) light bulb in the lamppost!  I, even though I stink at it, try to decorate my room.  I give my dolls a Christmas tree, long before we get a real one, and put lights and mini ornaments on it.  I usually hang some Christmas lights up in my room, too.

Christian or the snowman? :):):) I was at the nursery today, and I didn't see Christian, but I saw his little brother, Baby Ben. :):):) He's SO cute!! :):D:D:D:D He's like a smaller version of Christian. :D:D:D He was born in May, and his mom is due to have another boy in May! :):) All three of her kids will have May birthdays! :D:D Man, now I want you to be able to see him, too.  Someday, you have to see Bob, Alice, and Christian.  Oh, and there's this sweeeeet little girl named Gretta I took care of today.  Some people may think that "Gretta" is a name for like a witch, or something, but just think the opposite, and you have her! :D:D:D:D:D She's so sweet! :D:D She'll pretend to be Pooh, or Tigger, or Kipper, and she'll run around the room softly going "Ahhhhhh!". :)D)D) She is the CUTEST girl in the world!! :D:D:D You need to see her, too!!! :D:D:D

Two-year-olds are cute, but my favorite is four-year-olds. Basically I just act like one anyway, so we get along great:) One time, one of them, Leo, was hanging out with a bunch of us older kids in the woods. We were playing a game involving wizards, and Leo suddenly said, "I want to be a lizard!"

:):):) I'm taking care of the three-to-four-year-olds this year! :):):):):) Sometimes, there's up to twelve kids, which can get annoying, because they like to tackle me, but yesterday, there were only five. :):) One girl named, hee hee, Paige, LOVES me, and not just because of our names (although that is a main reason....). :):):) She only weighs about 15 pounds (no, really, she's light.), so I give her piggy-back-rides all the time.  She's SO cute!!!!!! :):):):) (Her brother is Calvin, the kid who loves his tongue, who I think I told you about....)

I just started volunteering at this day nursery and I like it a lot, so I want to do it more. I've gone twice so far. I work with the three-year-olds, and they're all so cute! My mom has to come while I do it (some rule that if you're under 14, you have to have a parent with you, blah, blah, blah) and this one girl can't comprehend that people bigger than her can have mommies too. You know what she said the other day?

Her: "Is see (meaning she) your mommy?"

Me: "Yes, that's my mommy!"

Her: "Does see keep you safe?"

I nearly cracked up, but I kept a straight face and said, "Yes, my mommy keeps me safe!" Then it was recess time. There were about four or so kids that never wanted to stop swinging. I must have pushed kids on the swings for at least half an hour, probably more. Then the two-year-olds came out on the playground, too. There's this one girl who I'll call H. who's two. A sweet, itsy-bitsy thing with blond hair. I only briefly met her the first time I volunteered and barely remember her, but she comes right over to me and taps my knee. I look down and she just puts out her arms, wanting to be picked up. Doesn't even say anything, just looks at me with her arms out. So of course I pick her up and hold her on my hip, and she immediatly lays her head down on my shoulder and lies there. Unfortunately, I eventually had to put her down because it was hard to hold her and push the swings at the same time. But (for the most part) I love working with little kids. Their innocence is just so sweet!
