Braces

Braces

BracesUndecided

I (unfortunately) have them. I got my bottom ones on two days ago and then they put these blue balls of glue on two of my back teeth so I don't bite the brackets off since I have too much of an overbite. Well, the next day when I woke up, one of the blue balls (AKA "speed bumps") was gone. We had to go back in to get another one put in, but then the other fell out, and no one's in at the orthodontist today or tommorrow or the day after that! So I have to wait until Tuesday!!! We were looking at mouthguards today for me to wear until then, but all the boxes said "Do not use if you wear braces or any other mouth appliances". So right now my life stinks. All I can eat is soup, mashed potatoes and gravy, apple sauce, and the only snacks I can eat are ice cream and smoothies. I got rubber bands on my braces the first time though! Green for St. Patrick's Day ♣. Does anybuggy else here have braces??? How do you cope with them???

I have braces. I also have speed bumps. (I didn't know that they were called that until now.) I cope with them by pretending I have normal teeth. But I restrict myself to eating the un-brace-worthy foods. (But I still have popcorn and chips. Once or twice I had gum, but I don't recommend it.) I don't know what Olive does.

Yeah I have braces.  I have had them for a long time too.  My advice... If you have wax put it on any sharp parts because if they poke around they can get pushed into your gums, and believe me it HURTS!  I also would take it easy on the food for a while because trust me it can really irritate the brackets and wires.

See ya later!

@Michele: Yeah, I've been using the wax on the ends of the wires that are sticking out at the back because they kept scraping against the inside of my mouth. They said it happens if your teeth are moving fast! Yay! I'm in a bit more of a better mood because my sisters and I slept over at some friends' house last night! We had ice cream for dessert, watched Kit Kittredge, played the piano, went in their woods, and just talked. It was F-U-N.

Hip hip hooray!!  I got my braces off about a month ago!!!!  I now have to wear a retainer 24/7 until the ortho tells me I ca just wear it at night.  It's so amazing to get them off.  Just be patient.  It will really be worth it.

I am getting them a week after Easter. Right now many people in my class have them, and BOTH of our trombone players in our band have them.

Oh yes, the wonderful adventures of braces. I have braces only on my top teeth, and i have special ones that are clear, so you can't see them from a distance. But i also have a metal crib in my mouth, to keep my tongue back. I also have a retainer and elastic bands. So during the night i have braces, a crib, a retainer AND elastics. So much FUN!!!! :P

Spam-guy says: oveh. Over perhaps? What are you trying to get over spam-guy?

Maybe he has braces and is trying to get over  how horrible they are!

Now he says Prud. Short for prudent? Am I not being prudent enough? Is it a piece of advice?

You are not alone, Hannah! I have braces and will have them for awhile. My process was broken up in two phases, so you could say I'm a braces veteran. :P I got four brackets on the top four front teeth in fourth grade for about a year and a half and then I got a retainer. Just last August, I not only got my full set in, I got four teeth pulled. What's up with four??? Now I have chain (does anyone have those evil contraptions?) and I'm getting rubber bands soon. *sigh* And if anyone has gotten four teeth pulled before and had happy gas (as I did), was it one of your most relaxing experiences, or will I just have to endure funny looks from people forever?

Ha! Spamboy says, "iwcu" I get the "i..cu" but not the w. Ah well, anti-spam shall always be a mystery..

Ah, this is the perfect thread for the question I've been meaning to ask!!!

Does anyone know anything about Invisaline????  (I don't know how to spell it)  I badly need braces, but I really want something that's not going to interfere with my singing.  I'm at a rather critical point in learning classical singing, and I don't want to be set back because of braces.  When my friend got braces, there was a huge difference in her singing, and she was having a really hard time not sounding totally weird.  So, if anyone knows anything about them, I really would love some info!!!  Thanks!
