I don't do track and field but I used to take a tennis class where we had to run A LOT of laps.  I think running is very fun, but I understand about your legs hurting...I would just collapse after the tennis class.

I clicked on this thread merely to torture myself. I'm sure by now you have all heard my sob story of bad knees and yadda yadda blah. I'm not here for sympathy. I'm here to pass my knowledge from master to young grasshopper ninja. So when my knees gave out, they said give it the summer off and then you'll be back to fall soccer. Fall soccer comes and goes with promises of basketball if i skip soccer. Classic basketball comes. Goes. So does the rec team. But I'm really looking forward to springtime, because if I skip basketball, I'll be healed in time for track, right? Wrong. This upsets me more than anything else, because track was my thing. I was fourth in the entire district for the 800m, and I poured my soul into the relays, hurdles, throwing, all of it. Kake is doing track, as well as most of my other friends, and I'm happy for them. But it still tears me up inside. I still cry when I get home occaisionally because the house is empty and there's no one to call because they're all at track practice, where I belong. But like I said, I don't want you to feel bad for me, I want you to take my advice, and it's this: Run Every Race And Compete In Every Event Like It's The Very Last Thing You Will Ever Do. That was my motto when I was in the 800. I took first place, broke through that finish line, and collapsed on the other side. Kake practically had to carry me to the bus. But even though my knees were screaming in pain, I was wearing a grin, because I'd ran that race like it was my last. And it was. So good luck, but just remember. It probably won't be your last race, but you never know. That is my epiphany for the day (wow that was realllllly long :D) I hope you have lots of fun in track and field. I'm not trying to scare you off with this story, honest. I want you to love track as much as I did, and still do.

Our school did a big track and field tournament-ish-sorta-thing for the entire school (except grade 3 and down) and it was pretty fun. We did a 200m run, triple jump, standing long jump, running long jump, high jump, and ball throw. (no vertical jump, :-() And we also had to do 100m sprints and a 1500m run. (after my 1500, my legs felt numb) I hope to make the track and field team (they record how well you do) for triple jump and running long. I might be a sub for high jump, but only out of luck. (I made 1m and my foot hit the bar, luckily, it didn't fall) T and F is my best sport BTW. ;-) What track events are you doing? And are you doing any field events?

Oive that is exactly what my school did except the triple jump!!! We did the buddy walkers too!!! I did the 400m and the 200m run!! I came in 2nd place the first time I did the 200 but the 1st time they did it wrong so we had to do it again and I got 2nd place again then on the finalls I got 5th place (not last) because I was soooooo tired!!!!!! I DID THE BUDDY WALKERS AND THE 200M AND 400M RUNS!! I COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE BECAUSE MY TEACHER SPLIT UP THE GIRLS AND BOYS AND THERE WERE SO MANY GIRLS WE COULD ONLY DO 2 PER GIRL!!!!!
