Things that scared

Things that scared you when you were little and still scare you now:

I am still scared of the stupidest things!!!!! But the one that has stuck with me for so many years is really dumb: When I was 6 (or 7?), I watched Disney's Sleeping Beauty. There was this one scene where the witch's eyes were glowing in the fireplace and then disappeared. Since that VERY MOMENT, I have been scared of walking by the fireplace at night. Seriously, when I walk by it, it's a habit of mine to cover my eyes and get away from it as fast as I can. :P So, what are you scared of?

Nice thread.  First off, will everyone forgive me for not coming on in a WHILE?  I've been busy..ish.

Second, I love Sleeping Beauty... best Disney Princess in my opinion.

Um.  I was, and still am afraid of standing in front of something that holds a lot of water.  In aquariums, I get very nervous, and it takes a lot of guts for me to stand right in front of the glass.

Then the other day I was hiking with my dad and brother, and we were up by some water tanks, and half of them were not fenced in partially, so of course we went to investigate, but I was really freaked out, especially when my dad was slapping the side to see if it was empty or not.

For a while, I was deathly afraid of fire, because when I still lived in my old house up on the mountain, there were helicopters dropping fire on the dry grasses near my house, and putting them out I think to prevent other fires or something... anyway, it was very terrifying.

I'm afraid of crossing a creek or river on a log.

I am not afraid of heights, unless I'm standing on something than I can see through.  In cities, I always try to avoid grates, and I don't think I'd do very well in that glass elevator in... is it Chicago??  I dunno.

I'm afraid of loosing all my friends again.

I'm afraid to fall asleep sometimes.

I can't sleep with my feet hanging off the edge of something, and I know this is going to sound really stupid, but it's because I'm always afraid snakes and gophers are going to bite my feet.  STUPID, I know, so stop laughing.

More later.  Good thread.

Oh, I used to be terrified of thunderstorms. I like them now, but they used to make me scream. Especially at night.

Thunder never frightened me, but lightning did. I was also afraid to jump into swimming pools until I was 10. When I was little, you see, I had tried doing so, but I accidentally hit my head on the bottom, which hurt.

Oh yeah, and I used to be scared to learn how to swim. I wasn't afraid to play in the pool, just swim. I think it had something to do with putting my face in the water, I'm not really sure. But I didn't learn to swim at all until I was 10 or 11, and not very well until at least a year later.

I'm also currently afraid to drive, I just got my permit yesterday (I passed the test the first time, hooray!). But I don't want to drive...

When I was little my ballet teacher said that if you don't were socks or something while haveing ballet shoes on, you'd grow fungus on your feet, and that TOTTALY freaked me out. Today i'm still not shure if he was lying or not, so i never put them on without socks.

Also, i'm freaked out by bugs, ALL bugs except maybe ants, flys and mosquitos.

I think that if you often wear shoes without socks you can get foot fungus, because the dirt from your feet and stuff builds up on the shoe. But you are more likely to get blisters.
