Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Zombies Versus Unicorns -- which is awesomer? I discovered this debate while reading Scott Westerfeld's blog. Intrigued, I visited some other blogs to find out more. After thorough researching, I have decided that I am for Team Unicorn.

Sure, zombies can be kind of cool -- the ones from Reaper Man come to mind. But unicorns have lots going for them too. Look at the unicorns from HP. They're pure, innocent, extremely difficult to catch, and very magical.

Or look at Jewel, in The Last Battle. He is loyal, brave, fierce in battle. He fought for Narnia to the end.

Whereas zombies -- well, they're dead. They're gross. (Note: Do inferi count as zombies?)

I'm very curious as to where everyone else stands on this. Anyone?

The word "glory" (as in A Glory of Unicorns) certainly applies here.

I don't like sissy unicorns, but I like even them more than zombies.  I love the dark unicorns!  I imagine unicorns as rare creatures with extremely powerful magical capibilities. So... yes, I like non-sissy ones. Now, I think that an evil one would be awesone!   I just might have to write a story about one...

Emily.L, I'd like to take on your challenge. (This is going to be just a wacky short story.)

One day, Sunshine the unicorn was walking through the forest, saying hello to everything.

"Hello, tree!" she said to the old oak. Suddenly, a scowl formed on her lips. "I am SO tired of being friendly! Nobody would suspect it if I built a giant machine that would blow up the world and make everyone my prisoner! I think I'll do that now!" Then she pranced to a little clearing to begin building her machine.

Meanwhile, Zeke the zombie was resting in his underground home with his friends, Bob, Billy, and Joe. They were complaining about being zombies. "We are always evil in books!" said Bob. "Everyone thinks that we're ugly!" said Billy. "We're much nicer!" said Joe. Suddenly, Zeke's cell phone began to ring. "Hey, it's a text from our friend, Mr. Owl!" said Zeke. Mr. Owl always knewwhat was happening in the forest.

The text said:

omg sunshine da unicorn is gonna blow up da world help help

Zeke screamed "CHARGE!" and ran out the door. Billy, Bob, and Joe followed.

Sunshine was almost done with her machine when Zeke approached. He was so ugly that she screamed "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" before running away. She never finished the machine.

Sunshine went to jail, and Zeke, Billy, Bob, Joe, and all other zombies were never teased again.

The End.
