Summer Camp!

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Summer Camp!

Summer Camp!

Yeah.  So today was my first day of summer camp at TNI (The Nature Institue).  I have five counselors.  Rob, Ashley, Nathan, Emily and Rachel.  I am actually Rob's age.  Or about.  He is going into seventh grade, and so would I, though he is thirteen.  And I could be a counselor, but I did not know that when I signed up for TNI.  And Rob is from Ireland.  And has this nice vague irish accent...

Anyway, I have made friends.  Sort of.  I already knew two people, but only one of those people is in my group.  And there are other people in my group that I have talked with.  One just came up to me and asked if I would carry her even though we do not know each other.

First we took a hike, and went to a waterfall.  Then we came back, had lunch, and some people played soccer.  I did not.  I do not know how to play.  So I just watched.

Then we did campe'rs choice thing.  I chose archery.  Got to shoot sticks with foam on the end.  Tomorrow I think I am going to choose Mafia.  Different things every day.  Four days, four things to choose.  if Mason doesn't want to do something that I want to do, then I will ask Braedon.

And I am about two thousand words behind on my word goal for JulNo.  I must be getting back to writing.

But first...

Is anyone else going to a Summer Camp?  What is it like?  Are you going to TNI?  If so, I saw you.  I saw all the people.

Sound like fun!!  I go to CND every summer.  This'll be my 8th or 9th year, so yeah, I a reggular camper.  Anyway I LOVE archery!!!!  One of my first years at camp I hit one tree sooo many times that I had to Marry it!!!  The first time you hit a tree you have to hug it, second time kiss it, third time take it on a date, and lastly you marry it.  I can't wait to see my husband this summer!!  :P

HaHa.  I would be married multiple times to multiple trees.  And people.

Anyway, the happy box.  Yay.  Happy thoughts.  Mostly about Joe and Rob, counselors.  Some of the happy thoughts had to be put down.  None of mine, happily.  Rob says when he reads or hears someone read happy thoughts written about him, he gets embarrassed.  I don't understand why people write those if he does not like it...

Anyway, my two favourite counselors are Ashley and Rob. Yay.  Autumn hated one that Miles loves.  I don't particulaarly know...

Anyway, I will be leaving/...

The arrows were soft tipped, made out of pool noodles, so it did not hurt them.  People also hit me.

Anyway, the people there are obsessed with Silly bands.  Trading, giving them away.  I even got caught up in it, for someone gave me one.  A blue bird.  I didn't really want it, but I did not want to be rude, either.

And I changed names with a girl there.  She liked my name more, and I liked hers.  So we traded.  My name is now Raina.

And I could have played soccer, but I chose not to.  Someone explained to me how to play, but I think that I would be horrible at it.  Maybe tomorrow I will try.  And see how well I do.

Tomorrow will be a full day of thirteen and a half hours at camp.  And that is when you have to say goodbye to your counselors, your friends for a year, until you come back next year.

Rob is great at drawing Homer Simpson.  On the bottom of the endside of the boat my group was making, he drew Homer and made him say, "Don't Fail!"  i found that funny...

In the water fight, or water Olympics thing, both the teams were cheating.  Including mine.  Though Braedon (who was not on my team) filled up the water bucket of my teams after other people on his team dumped it out.  A friend and I did the same thing for his team.

All the counselors spent so much time on the water balloons, and we did not use them at all.  Rob got really mad about that.  He was the one who did most of the balloon filling...  For nothing.

Aragorn says 'awhm'.  Aw him?  Do you feel sorry for Rob?  I do, too.

We use real arrows at my camp so everyone has to stand behind a certain line before someone else shoots.

Zoology! I love zoology... But I don't think I'm taking any zoology-based camps this year, probably.

I went to one earlier that was basically speculation about what the year 2020 might be like, mainly because I was curious, and when that year actually comes, I want to look at everything I brought home just to see how close it was. Probably not close at all... But we also worked in groups to write storiesthat take place that year. Luckily, I wasn't placed with people whose writing tyle was so blatantly different from mine that I would have trouble. I hate that... But I think the story was pretty good, mostly.

I meant to go to church camp, too, but i'm apparently so absent-minded that I forgot to sign up.

I'm also going to one or 2 more camps. I'm not really sure what... I don't exactly remember what I've signed up for. I'll see.

Oh, and I'm going to Totus Tuus (church camp) in two weeks, but I'll still be able to post. And I went to VBS but that was WAY back in May right after school got out.

Today was the last day of camp.  I will miss everybody, and TNI.  Today was a full day, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.  I am sweaty, and tired, and I allready miss people.  The only people I will be able to actually talk (or type) to is Rob. I remember his last name and he has a Face Book acount.  And I will make one, and find him.  i told him I would, so I must.

Tonight there was a *scary* hike.  Or a supposedly scary one.  People behind me kept yelling and screaming.  No one scared me, they didn't even try.  Except Nathan.   I was going to hit him with my stainless steel waterbottle when he was pretending to be a gargoyle in a batman suit. Buty I decided not to hit him.

And I am two months older than Rob.  Yay! for him.  He gets to boss me around because he is a counselor even though I am older than him.  Not Yay! for me.

And on the scary hike I was following a girl.  I was stalking her.  She was perfectly fine with that.

The obsession with sillybands took over.   Everyone was trading and giving them away.  i was talking with Braedon how fun it is to watch people trading them.  And the head two people are fine with that, they actually like it.  Trading things...

And today they gave us  a luch bag to draw on.  I had everyone in my group sign it.  Including my counselors.

I can be a Junior Naturalist next year.  I could have been one this year, I think.  i talked to the head person who runs it, and another Junior Naturalist.  So i will call or e-mail her in January.

Um...  i feel like rambling more, but I am to tired.  About seventeen hours of the day I have been awake, running around, yelling, screaming, pooping, peeing, eating, singing, making people smell my arm.

Wait.  One more thing.  I made people smell my arm.  i was telling Rob and Mason yesterday that my mom made home made bugspray, and I brought it today.  it was on my arm, and I made people smell it.  Rob smelled it twice.  Smells better than the other toxic bugspray.  And before it left, I made Elijah smell it.  He said it smelled like an arm.  Yeah, exactly like an arm.  ExACtly.  That might be because it is an arm.

Anyway, I said I would stop rambling.  So I will stop.

Just one more thing.  i was outside most of the day.  Except for about twenty minutes when we were in the library place with the AC.  That felt nice.  And we got sweets, or candy.  And they handed out badges.

Badges.  Yes.  Those. badges are what campers get on the last day of camp from the counselors.  It is what you were most like in your whole group.  I was Future Naturalist.  Because I am so smart.  I had bragging rights that I did not use.  Except I did use them here.  Sarcastically.

Anyway, one more thing, and then I will end my terribly long ramble about camp.  There was a bouncehouse.  Rob said he was supervising.   he was supervising by jumping and flipping and pushing.  A very nice way of supervising, wouldn't you say?  /sarcasm

Boat race.  We had a boat race.  My tem got second palce.  The boat was made out of cardboar, duct tape,  trashbag, and plastic bottles.  Our teams raced by having the lightlest person in our group get in the boat and float, or paddle to the middle of the pond.

And Franklin Roosevelt came to the grounds of the camp before.  And maybe even Elvis, or someone with the same last name as him.

Before the Supposedly Scary Hike, a person told a few stories.  People call her the chicken lady because she has chickens and tells stories about chicken hearts.

Anyway, i will be leaving.  That ^ was long.

I just got back a few days ago from Camp Tadmor, this amazing Christian summer camp! It is so much fun and seriously one of my favorite places on Earth! And the five days I was there were, and I'm not exagerating at all, they seriously were, probably the best five days of my life! My friend I've been praying for for two years asked Jesus into her heart and I had the most amzing counselors and felt SO close to God! I LOVE Camp Tadmor SO much!!!!! :D I'm probably taking the friends that went with me to Tadmor and my counselors to the beach cuz one was from Australia so we want to show her the Oregon Coast! Her camp name was Auzzie and our other counselor's (well, counselor in training's, actually) camp name was Bubblie! I miss them really bad! Hmmm, that reminds me. I need to finish those letters to them... *rambles on about Auzzie and poker and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Bubblie and watches and sleeping with people's feet*
