I'm so excited/anxious!!

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

I'm so excited/anxious!!

I'm so excited/anxious!! The dance director at the studio my sister and I dance at is picking out her new Pointe students. Ilona is one of them, and so is Elizabeth (I imagine she will be posting soon).  I really hope I'm one of them she's picked so far.  Today is my second Ballet class with her, so she's going to be making her final decisions, because we have to get our shoes on Sunday and this is our last class we get before we have to get our shoes.  The only person she trusts for fittings works there on Sunday.  My sister already has her shoes.  I really, really, really, hope I get picked!!!!!

Cry  I didn't get picked! Wahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  The director says I don't love dance enough, and I got to thinking, it's more because I'm jealous than because I just want to go on pointe.  ~sighs~

Spamboy says huhv.  Huh? He doesn't understand us!

Charlotte,

I feel so bad you didn't get picked.

If you are even in your dance class you're in it I'm sure because you love dance. I am again sorry you didn't get picked. What's the big deal? Maybe next time you will get picked. NO sweat see?

Well I guess it is a big deal now, but later on you will laugh at yourself for being so foolish!! You will someday realize that it was childish to be so disappointed.

My hope is that next time you will get picked!!!!!!!

I gotta go! I am sure you are a great dancer so don't get too upset!!!!!!

Charlotte, if you do love dance, why don't you ask your teacher what you need to do to be ready for en pointe? Then you can work toward that goal. Good luck!

Thank you Vida ~hugs~.   Really, it was mostly jealousy, because all the other girls were getting picked, and I felt like I needed to be in there too.

Don't worry guys, I'm much better now.  I did ask the teacher what I could do and she just said keep working hard and attending two classes a week.  My sister and I are now using exercise bands (a giant rubber band used to strengthen feet), doing crunches and stretching for thirty minutes every night (or longer).  Maybe after Nutcraker is over...

Charlotte, I know how you feel about needing to be in with other girls!  That;s how I felt the whole season with basketball!  All I did was try to impress the pointguards, and I ended up hating the whole season. (And most of the team)  I'm glad that your feeling better about it, but if something lik this ever happens again try to remember that you don't have to be a part of the group.  Sometimes it's the people who aren't in the group who really matter. :)

Wow, sounds like you and your sister are working hard! I've been in ballet before, and doing streches for that long can be hard! I'm sure you'll get picked next time! :)

Actually, stretching isn't that hard.  Of course, my tap teacher is a massage therapist so he, well, yeah...

Not you've got me in MAJOR freakout mode, because something very similar is happening where I go to dance. Here it is..................

Last year I went on pointe, so I was taking 3 ballet related classes a week. (Ballet, Ballet Technique, and Pointe) But this year, our studio director decided to have us evaluated by a phsyical therapist. However, the pysical therapist makes our director very tense, so she says alot of stuff that she doesn't mean. For example, she pretty much told some random girl at the studio that I would probably be taken off pointe, loud enough so I could hear. But I worked harder, and I think I might of improved enough to stay on pointe. My advice to you is to keep your head up and learn the exercises off pointe, so that way next year when you go up, you'll know the exercises and have stronger ankles. And remember, DON'T SICKLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's one of the reasons I might get taken off. Good luck in the Nutcracker!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I get yelled at for my legs being loose, not because I'm incapable, but because of tap-dancing.  I looooooove <3 tap and your legs have to be really loose in tap to get a get a good sound.

That's strange.................. I'm in tap, too, but they've never told us about the lose leg thing. Do you go to a really strict academy????

No, actually, we were a rec center until just now.  The director bought the place from the rec center a week or two ago or something.  But my tap teacher's tap teacher used to perform on broadway.  I got to take a workshop from him once.  And my Tap Teacher teaches at two other places and he says that where I'm dancing at right now is the best kept secret in Colorado.
