Chatterbox: Down to Earth

I thought it

I thought it would be cool if we did a thing where explained why we put our location as what it is.  Here's mine:

Lost in my mind's maze.

I mostly am a daydreamer.  I think of that as wandering through your mind.  Course one day I went in there and I've never come out because I got lost.  Mom thinks I've lost my mind, but really I'm lost in my mind.

So, everybody else?

Cue repost of overly long explanation I gave to Clair when she asked me what my location meant on an Inkwell thread!

Death's Domain
It's actually a Discworld reference. The Death of the Discworld -- how to explain this? Well, for starters, he's the Anthropomorphic Personification of death. Basically, the Grim Reaper. Bones, scythe, black cloak, white horse (his name is Binky), all that jazz. HE TALKS LIKE THIS. And he doesn't kill people; he just goes around to the people who are dying and takes their souls off with his scythe so the souls can go about their business. This is actually a very important job, as evidenced in Mort when the wrong person is taken and history is totally messed up, with two conflicting realities trying to take place at the same time. And if Death doesn't keep doing his job, nothing can die properly. Windle Poons in Reaper Man, for example, was supposed to die, but Death didn't come so he became a zombie. And Death as a person really isn't mean or scary at all, no matter what CoM and LF may have told you. He actually /likes/ humans. (He saves the life of the Little Match Girl. Not to mention his adopted daughter, Ysabel. And several other people whose names I do not recall. At one point he takes a woman to the afterlife that her dead husband-to-be had gone to so they can be together forever. This is after giving said woman a /bouquet/, a /box of chocolates/, and a huge diamond /to be friends with/. Nice guy? I THINK SO!) And he's really funny, mainly because he takes everything dead literally, pun only mildly intended. And sometimes he's so sweet you just want to give him a big hug. I am an unabashed fan of him. And Death's Domain is the name of the place "between the dimensions" where he lives. Hence, my location.

That's a cool idea.  Well, I normally put WA STATE BA-BEE, well, because I live in WA STATE. (which is the best state.  You know it is.  jk, jk.)  BA-BEE part is just for fun. :)  My sister was calling herself HP BA-BEE, (saying HP not Harry Potter.  It's coming to you, isn't it?  Ahuh, it rhymes. :D)  so I liked the BA-BEE part.  There you are. :D

Well, Terra means Earth. I live on Earth, but saying so is kind of boring and unnecessary, and until recently, I normally put nothing for my location at all, but then I just suddenly went, "Hey, wait, Terra means Earth! I can start telling people that there's life on planet Terra and see what they say! Come to think of it, maybe I'll start using it as a Chatterbox location..." I haven't told anyone about finding life there yet, but it'd be interesting sometime, especially if I then started talking about, I don't know, loriciferans or something... but I have started using it as my CB location.

They've discovered life on Terra? No. Zarking. Way. I hadn't heard that before! That is so cool. And kind of creepy too, like a sci-fi novel. Is it, like, bacteria, or actual intelligent life-forms?

I kid, I kid! Latin is awesome.
Also, this is gonna make me sound really ignorant, but what's a loriciferan? My dictionary apparently doesn't have as big a vocabulary as you.
...Which is actually kind of a scary thought...

Mine doesn't have it, either. Neither does dictionary dot com, and it's actually supposed to be comprehensive because it gets rid of the weight problem! (If you have a dictionary containing every English word, it gets too heavy to take to any place where it could be useful.)

And you don't sound really ignorant, at least to me, because, well, most people haven't heard of them. I hadn't until a few months ago, and I'm just obsessed with biology. Apparently they're animals in the ocean, and there's a type that was recently discovered to be able to survive without oxygen! I don't know how it does, but it excited me, as that's never been heard of before outside of sci-fi books about other planets. Probably no-one thinks it can be done, at least on earth, so it could confuse people if they know what Terra means and aid the "Can you believe it?! I never knew that before!" act if they don't.

I always put USA because my family and I are traveling the entire United States for a year or two in our RV. We started our journey Jan. 1st 2010! I always put the smiley face after it because...well, everyone knows I'm smiley crazy. :)

You don't beat that for awesomeness. Laughing

Ever since I started here my location has been outside looking in, except for my very first post, when I put MO. The explanation is not exactly simple: when I began here my life wasn't going so well-- my friends never called anymore, my sister and I fought constantly, and my parents disapproved of almost everything I did. I felt as if no one understood me--or, perhaps, that I didn't understand them. On ther upside, things are better these days. Much better, to be exact. My sister and I are pretty close, and my friends and I do almost everything together. Although my parents and I don't exaclty see eye to eye all the time, they support me and I love them. Still, it was me who had to change for this to happen, not any of them. So, deep down, there's still a part of me that wonders if I'll ever fit in, or if it's even worth it.

Hence, the name. :)

Well, originally mine was A Magic Carpet or Flying Away On A Magic Carpet depending which comupter I'm on, just because I didn't want to put where I really live and it was unique. Then I went through a period where I just put in the country of whatever fantasy book I was into at the time, which gradually changed to being Wizarding Europe or occaisonally Middle Earth all the time.

...And now I only put in a location if I feel like it. :P
