Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Christmas season is

Christmas season is around the corner and everyone's hustling and bustling to buy gifts, decorations, and make plans for holiday parties.  Do you have any gifts you are particularly proud of?  Or any clever wrapping/decorating tips you'd like to share?  Please, feel free to post here on traditions, gifts and all your preparations for Christmas!

I'm not gifted (haha- I didn't plan this) in gift wrapping. :)  But my mom bought this huge package of ribbons of all different textures and designs from Costco. (You could probably have guessed when I said huge that it was from Costco =D)  They add a very nice touch to all of my not-so-nice gift wrapping.  Also, I am creating a picture collage for my brother, that I'm going to frame.  I'm proud of this because it's so personal--and I know he's going to love it.  For my other brother, I bought expensive stickers (made from actual fabrics, not just flimsy sticker material) and glued magnets on to the back, for his new magnet board he got. I'm not sure about my sister's gift yet (I just know I'm going to buy a couple little things) but I plan on buying a Santa hat and placing her gift in there--tying it with a ribbon.  Anyway, sorry my gift ideas are boring, it's all I have right now.  Please liven this thread with more holiday cheer!

Thanks! I like it, too!  I don't know much about cameras or their brands, otherwise I'd ask you what kind you have. :P  Well, when you make that thread, I will try all these different ways, and see what works!  :D  I'm kinda excited right now because it seems the CB is "waking up" a little bit!!  Lost of people have been posting so I'm pretty thrilled.  I did have a wonderful New Year, besides the fact that we all had/have head colds.  Nasty.  But, thanks!  I hope you had a great New Years, too. :D

Oh, okay, I looked at the manual. It's a Casio Exilim.  :P

@Admin: Oh, yeah, I understand. :)  Perfect is a very hard word to describe anything with.  The wrong word choice, but what you had said sounded very nice!  I'm glad it was still great, despite the down parts.

Like many other words, "perfect" can have many definitions. I understood what you meant and I think you understood what I meant!

Thanks for the cookies Admin! :) That sounds like one, awesome, amazing, memorable Christmas! You guys are in IL, right? We went there for Christmas 2 years ago and we'll actually be going for '11 Christmas as well. It's such an awesome state and when it's snowing everything looks magical! :) That sounds like such a great light show! How fun that you went skiing, that is so much fun! We just might go sledding tomorrow, I really hope so. :) Happy Holidays!

Yes, I'm in Illinois. I went skiing again this morning at sunup. We saw 3 red-bellied woodpeckers and lots of deer tracks, but no deer. Now it's supposed to get warm and rain.

Argh!!!!!!!!!!!!

Four agonizing days until Christmas.  I'm going to go crazy!!!!!!!!!!!! ARGH!!!!!!!!!  I'm going to die!   What is in that bag at Gramma's?  What in the world is in the package for me from mom?  Why can Lona not wrap her present to mom?  I can't wait that long to answer them.  ~foams at mouth and writhes on floor~

Argh!  THREE MORE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I have to count today too, since it just started).

I'm going to die!  At least, becuase our cousin and uncle are here, I will get to celebrate some Christmas tomorrow because they are leaving on Christmas Eve.  I think I will open Gramma's present tomorrow instead of waiting.  Anyway, I decided to give mom, dad, my sister, all four gramparents and my uncle a copy of my NaNoNovel.  It was a stupid thing to do, I finally got the whole thing edited last night at nine o'clock.   Then I stayed up an hour and a half later trying to print four copies but I ran out of ink, so I only got two and a half done.  So mom (bless her heart) is going to drive twelve miles out of her way to get more computer ink for me today while I wait to go to Gramma's and Grampa's and hang with my cousin some more.

@Charlotte: 3 MORE DAYS!!!! :D I am SO excited. :) It is such a great idea to give your NaNoNovel as Christmas gifts! How awesome! I hope that your mom got the ink you needed. :)

Merry Christmas! :)

Since I was ten we've had this tradition of buying a coconut from Kroger (it's got to be from Kroger!) and then we crack it on Christmas Eve... And do nothing with the milk or the white stuff. We call it "Christmas Coconut Cracking". This'll be the 4th annual one. How I love pointless traditions! On Monday we went to a friend's house and had a tea party and cooky exchange. It was awesome. They gave us each a tea cup and saucer. We made gingerbread (of course), butterscotch lace cookies, Russian tea cakes, Brazilian coffee cookies, some kind of lemon cooky, peppermint bark. I made the lemon cookies, peppermint bark, lace cookies, and I helped cut out the gingerbread. The oldest girl in their family who's 15 and I planned it all! It was really cool.

Our dance school/studio had our annual winter recital on Saturday. We had two shows. The matinee was the worst for me. I had to do a solo for "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon". First my voice broke, then there was a lump in my throat, and my voice let out in a phrase and I had to swallow. And that was when my voice teacher was there! How awful! I went off the stage nearly crying. My teacher put her hands on my arms and said to calm down. I couldn't look her in the eye. The second show was much better, though. I hope they recorded the second show.

On Monday, my sister and I had my piano and voice Christmas reception. I sung "Golgoltha's Hill" "Wiegenliet" "Away in a Manger" and I played "Malaguena".

On Sunday, we went to a Nutcracker performance. We knew a lady who was dancing in it.

I'm also in our church's Christmas Choir. I've never been in a Choir before, so I'm like, "Uh, what am I supposed to be doing?"

We have had our tree up since the day after Thanksgiving. We have a fake one. I miss having a real Christmas tree.

Peacing out for now,

Hannah☺☻

Merry Christmas to all,

and to all,

a good night.

@Hannah: I agree, most of the time pointless traditions are the very best. :) The tea party sounds super awesome, stuff like that is so much fun! I''ve had things like that happen to me when I was singing too-they're so awful at the time, but they help us get better next time! :) I've played something called Malaguena on the guitar before, I wonder if it's the same thing...? Ha, ha, same with us, our tree has been up since the day after Thanksgiving. We have a fake one too, (well, we don't really have a choice since we're traveling in the RV... ;)) and it's covered in decorations! The entire RV is actually... :)

Merry Christmas! :)

@Kimberly: You have an RV?! That's so cool! I wish we had an RV, not that it could fit in our driveway (we have too many cars as it is).  Have you seen the movie? Robin Williams is hilarious.

@Hannah: Yep, we actually are full-time traveling around the country in it! We sold our house and left CA Jan. 1st 2010 and since then we've been to 39 states this year. :) It's so amazing, we have no idea when we're going to settle down again! :) Ha, ha, yeah, the movie is so funny! :)

Wait, you went to a Nutcracker?  Was it a ballet?  Was it be Colorado Dance Theater?  Then, if yes to both, me and my sister were in it.  I know the chances are slim, but...

@Charlotte: The Nutcracker was a ballet, but it was not out of the Colorado Dance Theater. We live  loooong way from Colorado. Have you been to Four Corners?
