Summer break!

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Summer break!

Summer break!

I just finished on Friday, the 24th and I did my piano exam two days before, so I'm stress-free (yay!). I'm sort of sad because I'm going to a new school next semester and I'm going to really miss my friends. Luckily, they all have email. So, is anyone here moving schools?

No, I'm homeschooled, but I'm thinking of maybe possibly perhaps going to public high school in two years. That would be a big change for me, since I've been homeschooled all my life, but I think it would be fun :)

Spammy says ivvy! That's almost a real word!

My break started quite a while ago. I was virtual schooled, and I'm only doing the same thing next year if they'll let me skip some grades in English. Their 'advanced English class' is really just the regular, on-level class with a separate Literature course added. I want harder work, not more work! It's a good school overall, though. I want to go to a certain private school next year, but it's expensive, so we don't know if that will work. My parents don't want to homeschool me, and I don't want to go to another public school, so we're kind of unsure about what to do. I like the idea of unschooling, of course, but I'm sure my parents wouldn't because while I would learn lots of things, I'd do the same research if I was schooled, for the most part. Tardigrades interest me enough that I read scholarly papers about them during the busy school year, not just when I'm bored in the summer. Overall, I'd learn more at a school.

Well, I've moved to a completely different state... so technically I would have switched schools if I wasn't homeschooling.  I'm sure you'll be just fine!  How far apart are these schools?

I'm so happy for summer break!  I'm really not done with school- I have a couple lessons left in math and science- but otherwise it's nice to not be forced to do school (I just have to get those subjects finished by the time school starts again).  And summer starting means my life gets busy, which I've been waiting for.  Cross-country summer training starts tomorrow and I'm super excited!

The virtual schooling was completely online, at my house. The private school I'm interested in is quite close to me. If I'm homeschooled, it'll be at home, and if I'm public-schooled, I don't know where it will be, but certainly not the middle school I went to in 6th grade. It was horrible. I tried to transfer before going there, but it didn't work out, so I had to go, and I hated it. I'm so glad that's over!

I almost went to the beach today, but my brother didn't wake up in time. :( We'll probably do it next weekend (My parents still have work).

I'm not quite done, either; there are a few ungraded art lessons I haven't done. Like I said, they're ungraded, but I feel like I should still do them, just for integrity's sake. Of course, if I didn't think I'd learn from them, that would be different--I skipped several tutorials in various classes because I already knew much of what was taught and was a fast learner and didn't need much instruction--but I think these would help me, and besides, they look fun.

Well I'm homeschooled so I haven't switched schools before. @Ima...I used to be virtual schooled but they really pressured me not has in its too hard for me but as in I have to be perfect or I'll get basic or far below basic gradding. So now I tradionally do homeschooling. I'm excited for beach days and camp and all in the summer but quite frankly I don't like summer. Summer for me means lying on my bed doing nothing waiting for fall to arrive. I don't usually have playdates in the summer for some reason and since I have no more homeschooling park days or homeschooling drama and dance classes means I don't see my friends.

Have you told your parent (the one who teaches you) this? Maybe en'll start teaching you early. When I get bored and have read all the nearby interesting-looking books, I research things that interest me. It works well for me.

You guys are so lucky! I don't have break until... July 31st! The classroom is stifling hot and I can't stand it. Here, in Germany, our climate in Summer can be soooo hot! I'm dying!

I'm going to be homeschooled up until high school. Then, I'll go to a private school that doesn't cost much money. My mom would rather not be dissecting a frog on our kitchen table. :-)

She does realize that there are other, perfectly valid ways of learning about their anatomy, though, right? I mean, I learned about the human body systems in school, but I didn't dissect a human...

@Princess P: I'm in high school and I've never had to dissect a frog.  It's not necessary for a good grade. ;)

I think this upcoming school year shall be my last of homeschooling.  Then I'm going to do a program at our community college.

@R~D
That must be an interesting change for you and I hope you do well. It's kinda weird that all us Chatterboxers are kinda alike but yet so much age difference and we don't even care. The power of Cricket. Mimi says urpfluple. Urpfluple to you too Mimi. (p.s. Mimi is the ACTUAL name of my little sister.)
