I GOT A

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

I GOT A

I GOT A CAT!!!! :)  She's so adorable!  Our friends found her starving to death, but were unable to keep her due to the father's allergies.  They were just about to take her to the pound when we decided we'd keep her.  She's about 8 years old, all black with a white spot on her neck, very tiny for an adult cat, and she slept on my bed last night. :P  She's the sweetest cat you'll ever meet.  We haven't decided on a name- I've been calling her Prim (after the Hunger Games) and I really think it fits her.  But there's still debating going on in my family.  I think my dad just wants to call her Kitty (after Monsters Inc.)... he's very creative, huh?

That's wonderful! Congratulations!!! I've always wished I could have a cat, but my dog wouldn't allow it.

By the way, could you please tell your friend that pounds don't generally treat their animals very well at all and it would be much better to find a rescue organization?

This is really great; you're so lucky to have her! Is she fine staying indoors, or do you have to let her out sometimes?

Thank you! As of right now, my cat has only stayed in the upstairs of the house.  My dog isn't allowed up the stairs, so it's a good arrangement.  Supposedly the cat likes to lie outside, but she's been too afraid of my dog to even venture downstairs.  :)  I know (about the pound)- it was actually their father.  He came home from work one day when his allergies were particularly awful and said he was taking the cat to the pound.  The mother called us and we came and picked up the cat immediately. I'm sure you'll be able to get a cat when you live on your own. :)

Your cat sounds so cute! And I think Rue is a lovely name, you should definitely name your cat that. :)

Great for you! I LOVE cats. I have 2 named Chika and Ahi...Chika's a girl Ahi's a boy...they are F7 generation Asian Leopard Cat...they are the Bengal breed. What breed is Rue? I bet she's suuuuuuper sweet and cute and adorable (I said and once too many). I wish her and you a happy life full of purring.

Congratulations on getting Prim! She sounds really sweet. Did you take her to the vet? My friend had a cat named Mia and before that we were calling her Diamond but I don't think that'a a great cat name... Anyway, I'm so glad you didn't take her to the pound!

Congratulations! I'll bet Prim is happy to be with you instead of at the pound. I've always wanted a cat, but our dad is allergic, so we can't get one. He probably wouldn't let us get one even if he wasn't allergic, though... oh well. I hope you have lots of fun and come to an agreement about her name!

I mean Prim not Rue...got a little carried away with Olive's statement.

Thanks everyone! Prim has somewhat stuck; it really does suit her.

@Olive: Rue is a lovely name but a neighborhood dog is already named that. :)  We have to be somewhat orginal (not that Kitty is...)

@Christina: Those cats sound awesome!  I'll have to look those up- they sound so interesting.

@Elizabeth: Oh, yes, she's been taken to the vet. :)  That's how we know her general age.

@Alexandra: Aw.  Well maybe if you really want a cat you can get one when you live by yourself. :D

Oh wait! You put Prim! Oops! I read Rue for some reason... maybe it's because I like her better than Prim. But Prim has a nicer name. :)

It's especially apt because cats are so prim.
