My advisor died

My advisor died this afternoon. 

I didn't know him very well, but he was a great guy and incredibly passionate about his work and his students. From what was said at the department meeting this evening, he had an incredible life and was a huge inspiration to hundreds of people, and I wish I could have gotten to know him better. 

I was going to audition for his play tomorrow afternoon.

Um, I'm sorry for dumping all of this on you guys, I just need... somewhere to get it out, I guess. I'm mostly cried out by now, but... 

 

Oh, TNO, I'm so very sorry. What a shock. We'll keep you, your schoolmates, and his family in our thoughts and prayers. It may be some comfort to know that, since he was your advisor this fall, he must have been doing a job he loved up until very close to his death. He will always be a part of you and his other students, and the students they may have, on and on into the future.

Thank you. :( And he was, he cared so much about everything and everyone and his door was literally always open unless he was with someone else or teaching a class.

Oh, I'm sorry!  He sounded like a wonderful person.  Well, at least you got to know him as you did - I'm sure it must have been great to know such an inspirational person.  Also, know that we're all thinking of you and your advisor.  *hug*

I'm really sorry, TNO. It's a really strange feeling to have someone you know die. I'll be praying for you and his students and family.
