Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Posting this from

Posting this from my brand-new laptop! :D:D:D To be honest I wasn't expecting one, because, well, they're expensive, you know, but hey!
Anyway now that I have this, I can whinge about my old one without feeling guilty. ^.^ It was awful. There were all these lines across the screen where the pixels had died (Not my fault! I got it second, no, third hand) and the virus protection had run out, and it could barely do anything anymore without saying that various programs were Not Responding. I almost figured it would be more merciful just to kill it quickly.
But now that I have my new one, which is *checks* an Acer, like my dad's, it's all fast and everying, so YAY! So: what is the most important/exciting gift that everybuggy else got?

Hmm... maybe my BLACKBERRY PEARL PHONE!!!!! :D:D:D (even though it's second-hand; I'm just glad it has a QWERTY keyboard instead of numbers. Gah. Those number keyboards are so hard to text with) Or all the beautiful non-hand-me-down clothes. Or my new hand-me-down digital camera.

And as you can see, my family loves hand-me-downs. :)

Also, yesterday, just one day after Christmas, I noticed that all the new comments had been posted already. You Admins work too hard. :)

Thanks for thinking of us, Olive. We enjoy hearing from each of you and want to keep you all in touch with each other as promptly as possible. And because there are three of us, we can share the posting. We all get time off, too!

PHONE!!! PHONE!!!

Well, it doesn't have a qwerty keyboard, and it's only for "emergencies" (I wonder how long that's going to last) BUT, it's my first phone! And it's a phone!!!

That's really cool, Emily!  I can't get a laptop till I get to college, and I'm counting the days.

I ruined my dad's old laptop (or rather it broke down on me itself). And for Christmas I got a Desktop! It's so pretty, and now I can post more on Cricket than I used to. Yay!

2 things.

First of all, there was what I asked for, a group of CDs about how to notice more when you're in nature. It's awesome!

There was also a surprise: A Kindle!! I hadn't asked for one, and neither had my brother, but we got one, and it's awesome! There are so many free books!

You used the word "winge!" :D

Hooray for new computers! (I want one, but since this computer is only a few years old [tech snob? me?] it's not happening).

I got a pair of (sparkly, green, fingerless!) gloves, a little gargoyle statue, and an AWESOME knit hat that is Jayne Cobb-levels of atrociousness. Oh, and Guys and Dolls

@Ima- What's a Kindle like exactly?

Eek. Our family got a Kindle (or a Nook, whatever, same thing), and I flatly refuse to use it. A kindle is like the digital replacement of a book.

I can see how electronic books can be handy, Emily, but I'm with you in that I love to curl up in a comfy chair at home or anywhere on a trip with an old-fashioned book with paper pages I can physically turn back and forth in retrospect and anticipation. No batteries or electricity needed as long as there's light.

Yay for new laptops!  Unfortunately, on Christmas, I found out that my dad had dropped my computer down the stairs and now the CD drive doesn't work.  Luckily, the computer is fine in every other way, and I can get an external CD drive.  Plus, I got to put an awesome band-aid on it, one of the pack my friend got for Christmas that says, "Crime scene, do not enter!"  I'm pretty proud... :)

The big present of the day was a new camera!!  It's a Canon t3i and just fantastic in every way.  Now that this new door has been opened to me, I'm so excited to go out and take lots of quality pictures.

@TNO: I'm proud I got your reference; I've always been the last person to get them that I know. :) I still really need to watch Firefly, something my friends remind me on what seems like a daily basis.

Eep! You got a Canon! I got a pink one for my birthday. It's so cute, has awesome settings and is just totally AWESOME! Anyways... ;)

re: Kindle: I read a lot and the idea of a Kindle is nice because you can get new books really quickly. But I wouldn't want it to feel like staring at a computer screen for a long time, because sometimes I do that and I get a really bad headache.

Umm... All the money 4 my trip to NYC.

Tons of books. (8 finished!) Mostly by Wendy Mass.

Clothes, stuffed Animal (from Muppets), Kindle money, and iTunes money.

Yeah, that's my exciting stuff.  My stuff wasn't as exciting as yours was this year.  I still love it, though!
