Tim Horton's apparent

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Tim Horton's apparent

Tim Horton's apparently isn't known by that many people outside of Canada, according to my dad. Is that true? If it is: D:

Oh, Olive, I live in Illinois and I know Tim Horton's coffee and doughnuts, etc.! My first experience with it was in Vancouver, BC, and I thought it was only in Canada. But last fall, when visiting my uncle in Northville, Michigan (near Detroit), we found a Tim Horton's and even bought some of their coffee beans to bring home. That area is close to Canada.

Who? What? Huh? Doughnuts?

They have good ones at Tim Horton's, but that's two states away now and we didn't bring any home with us!

@Admin: They have some in Michigan? I thought they were just in Canada and New York... And the donuts are pretty good but I will always love Krispy Kreme more. Sadly there are only a few left here in Ontario.

@SC: Tim Horton's is like a smaller, Canadian, cheaper version of Starbucks. They sell coffeecoffeecoffee, Timbits (donut balls), donuts like Admin said, danishes, muffins and breakfast food like the beautiful BELT (Bacon, egg, letuce, tomato) and then some.

In my lifetime here in Canada, I've seen and been to more Tim Horton'ses than McDonald'ses. That's how many are here. (Or, in other words, there's one for every plaza and mall. And a few stand-alone extras) :D

The one we went to in Michigan had sandwiches, too. Maybe even soup, but I'm not sure about that.

Oh, and Tim Horton is/was (??) also a hockey player. And you know how much (most) of us Canadians love hockey... except for me. And a few other people ^.^

Doughnuts!  Coffee!  Never heard of Tim Horton's though, I'm kind of addicted to sugar (doughnuts) and coffee, when I can get it.

I live in Texas, and I've never heard of it.

I don't think they have them in California. And sadly, the supermarket donuts are better than almost anything from a specialty store. The golden state is definitely not famous for its donuts... or its coffee, for that matter, though I don't really like it that much. We have good bubble tea, though!

What's bubble tea?

@Admin: Bubble tea is a kind of Chinese/Japanese drink, I'm not sure which one. It's basically milk tea with flavors in it, usually fruit but not always, and it has little pearls made of tapioca in it that you suck up through a big straw. It's kind of weird at first, but it's soooo good! I always beg my mom to get one when we go to the Chinese grocery store. :)

Thanks for the info, Alexandra. It sounds interesting.

@Admin: re: Sandwiches and soup: The Tim Horton'ses here all have soup and sandwiches as well. As lasagna, which is new.

@Alexandra: They sell bubble tea in Chinese groceries? ... Why did I just learn this NOW? (we go to one almost every week *Asian*) And don't you guys have Bubble Tease in malls?

@Melody: Tim Horton's aren't just in the middle of nowhere. They're EVERYWHERE. As in no house is complete without a Timmy's within walking distance. (that's how many there are) Another statistic that has no scientific evidence but is pretty much true: Almost every Canadian household in a suburban area goes to Tim Horton's at least once a day.

Well, my house does. ^.^

Bubble tea? That's what it's called? I just call them "those smoothies". And then I have to persuade my mother that I'm hungry after stuffing myself.

It sounds like Dunkie's here!  There seems to be at least ten Dunkin' Donuts in every city and town and New England.  I was in the middle of nowhere in Maine, and we found a Dunkin' Donuts.  They make really awesome, really flaky croissants.

We have like two or three Tim Horton's in the area:) I love them because they always share a building with Coldstone Creamery, who makes really good (overpriced) sorbet.

I've never been to a Coldstone's Creamery since all the Tim Horton's nearby are stand-alone ones... :(

Oh, and I'm going through a SCRIVENER TUTORIAL right now because I just downloaded the Windows (trial) version! :D
