So, I'm writing

Chatterbox: Inkwell

So, I'm writing

So, I'm writing my novel, which ends in the grand Survival Challenge (no, it is not like the Hunger Games; there is no killing, it's more like a month-long outdoor camp) and the aim of the Challenge is to find the Object. Now, I have no idea what the Object is, so I need suggestions! It can be absolutely anything; at this point, I'm desperate. No matter how wacky or ridiculous, I'll consider it. Help!

Here's a brief summary of my story: Two kingdoms (which are where the U.S. and Europe are) live pretty much in harmony (although one of them has a new king that adds tension) but all of the townspeople gather for the Trials, the great sports competition that ends in the Challenge. The winning team wins the Medallion.

The object should be a magical amulet that sparkles. X) or, you know, just a normal old amulet, if you want to be BORING. ;) (just kidding)

It could be a key that unlocks something else. Then you could continue your story in another book.

It's not the best idea, but I can't think of anything else. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Well, it all depends on the conditions and whatnot. Are people forced to enter this Grand Survival Challenge, or do they want to enter it? How easy is it to die? Do people die?

@Tiffany:

No dying...unless the team is so stupid they do something really stupid...People are not forced to enter; it's mostly on their own decision, but I haven't really gotten into it: one girl didn't want to enter but did anyway, but I don't think they're forced to. Like I said, I'm trying to keep it as un-Hunger Games as possible.

Magic is good...probably not exactly something that could go to the next book...after the first book, the Trials sort of fade into the background--aside from the winner of the Challenge, of course. An amulet would be good...Keep the suggestions coming!

Maybe an animal carved out of rock? Or (I read this in a book) a crown?

A wand that grants one wish to the person who finds it, or so they think.  It is secretly cursed.

Thanks a lot for all of your ideas, but I think I've decided on an idea: Everyone finds a skelaton key in random places and each key leads to a shed with dozens of figurines. Each team chooses one figurine but not one figurine is correct. It's the reason they chose it that would determine the winner. Plus, this is the first time the winner is decided this way; most of the time they would just find something. So, thanks for all of your help, all of your suggestions really got me thinking. The amulet, the rock, all of those things, gave me the idea for the figurines and so thanks thanks thanks. Chatterbox-ers really have good ideas!

I'll second that! Chatterboxes have great ideas, are very creative, and skilled writers! Plus very helpful to each other. I love the idea of figurines!
