Chatterbox: Inkwell

Here's a really

Here's a really short thing I just slapped together a minute ago:

There was no sound, Arielle could have sworn there was no one else there but her. But she knew there was. She could feel someone watching her from the shadows. She held her breath, hoping to catch even a little breath of air from the other person in the dark corner. Then, slowly, the figure left out into the open, into the narrow shaft of light from the small window. Suddenly, Arielle realized who the person was and why he was so quiet: It was Ryndal, the magician.

Hope you like! It's going to be part of a future novel.

Here's another excerpt:

Arielle thought Ryndal had seen her but he was focusing on something further on. Only then did she realize that the hall was a lot longer then she thought and she couldn't see down that far. But then she heard a loud voice boom down. She gasped when she recognized it. It was Fydor, her father's adviser, but even though that might not seem so odd, it was the way he talked that seemed weird. Instead of the oily, servile tone Fydor used to her father, the voice was hard, ruthless. Arielle knew the adviser had usually been absent, doing things nobody knew, but she didn't know why he was in the middle of the dark Winhouser Hall. Then suddenly everything fell into place: Fydor was leading the rebellion: he had purposely led her and Ryndal there to the prison...and if she didn't know better, he was going to keep them there.

"So you came after all?" Fydor asked, his voice echoing off the walls.

"Yes we came, what do you want?" Ryndal retorted.

No, Ryndal, don't push him. He could imprisonate you, Arielle screamed in her mind, trying to stop him. But Ryndal was already lifting a hand to send a silent spell at Fydor. But Fydor was even quicker. A blue flash of lightning flew from his hand, sending Ryndal against the wall. Arielle almost screamed, seeing her friend so in a bind. He was the only magician in the town and no one could best him. But Fydor was a magician too?!

"Arielle?" Fydor asked. She leapt out of the shadows and glared fiercely.

"How dare you?!" she yelled. "Let him go!" But Fydor merely chuckled evilly.

"I knew this would be the golden opportunity to get you for what I need. But first..."

Suddenly Arielle felt a sensation like a rusty blade slicing through her head. She let out a scream. She couldn't think, she couldn't feel. She collapsed to her knees, gasping for relief.

"No! Nooooo! Please! Please...."
