This creature known

This creature known as Olive wants to do an RP.

Note: Nenri are based off the Japanese monsters known was "Enenra".

Anyway. Here's the summary:

After ravenous beasts known only as Nenri diminish earth's population, an epidemic sweeps the remainder of the survivors. Only a handful of people- all children- are immune to this disease. They are called the Free. So when there are rumours of creatures who have developed a cure, it is up to the Free to find them. There's just one little problem. The cure was developed by a colony of shapeshifting spirits. And those spirits aren't giving up their cure without a little... entertainment.

By entertainment, I mean the spirits are going to get the Free to go on some quest of some kind- probably to kill the Nenri who are just in hiding, biding their time and ready to take on not just the rest of the humans, but also the spirits themselves. I don't know what to call the spirits. Any ideas? (I was thinking of names that have to do with Japanese folklore- or anime or manga ;))

Oh, no. Japanese names. I'll definitely join, but.... a little help?

Name: Undefined (yikes, horrible name)

Age: 12

Gender: Male

Appearance: Fair haired and short with dark brown hair

Personality: Social, fun-loving, optimistic

Other: One of the Free, I guess.

So please help with my name, Olive! Pulease? Or anyone? I don't really read that much Japanese folklore, and the only anime/manga I've ever watched is Studio Ghibli.

Well.... and Pokemon. But that doesn't help much XD

Springhole (the site with the Mary Sue litmus test) has a Japanese name generator that I use quite frequently. ;)

How about Yusuke (It means ghost helper and is the name of the main charrie in Yu Yu Hakusho, one of my all time favorite manga) Fukui (it means fortunate) so how about you call your charrie "Fukui Yusuke" or "Fortunate Ghost Helper" (note: Yusuke is the first name, Fukui is the last name)

I hope this helps ^_^

Violent coughs shook Ari Oyama's body. Miri Oyama watched her older sister silently.

"Oyama, leave," someone said gruffly. It was The Doctor. He was one of two who had survived the Nenri. Miri hastily stood up from the floor and walked out the door. The Doctor was the only person who knew how to help Ari, so what he said goes. The other doctor had the sickness and couldn't even open her eyes anymore.

Miri walked through the corridor in the apartment that had become the new "hospital". The doors had all fallen off but there were beds and there were sturdy walls. The actual hospital was no more than a pile of rubble, when some insane person had set it on fire, trying to keep the sickness from spreading.

She could feel jealous, hateful, sad, or empty eyes on her as she walked, staring at the blue band on her arm. What remained of the government had ordered that all those immune to the sickness be given identification. The immune--or the Free as they were called--did what others could not. Delivering food to the sick, doing checkups, and more. The Free were all children and in a matter of days after identification, were nurses as well.

"Kurkure?" someone said, holding out the bright orange bag containing spicy cheesy chips. It was Diego, or Indigo as everyone from school called him, because of the infamous indigo ink + hair + teacher + Diego incident.

As everyone from school had called him.

"No thank you," Miri said. "Too spicy."

The Nenri had an aversion to spicy food, so there was still an ample amount of food.

But little to drink.

"So what's up?" Indigo asked. "This morning Mrs. Josephs puked all over me."

"Josephs-sensei," Miri corrected. The area of town they were in had a large Asian- mostly Japanese- population because of the "international" school that had once been standing. Miri had never had "Mrs. Josephs" but old habits die hard. "And this morning I visited my sister."

"Any better?"

"No."

End of conversation.

//Ayame

Fluttering down to land on a thick branch, Ayame stopped to preen the feathers of her bird form, a great gray owl. There was a quick flash and a brief smell of cherry blossom as she changed back into her human form. Braids swinging in the breeze, she sat there, swinging her legs and staring into space. A hawk alighted on the branch next to her, and with a similar flash, he looked like a human too. They waited in silence for a moment before anyone spoke.

"When do you think the free will get here?" she asked him, quickly glancing into his brown eyes. He sighed.

"Are you still on about that?" Sidoh asked, his eyes turning momentarily darker. Ayame smiled.

"You know how boring life here can be. It's a wonder I've stayed this long already."

"I hope you won't be too disappointed if the free don't show up."

"Beni's predictions are never wrong." Sidoh turned to face her abruptly.

"You--" he started, "you aren't planning on following them, are you?" Ayame turned back to face the landscape again, avoiding his gaze.

"No promises," she said. He frowned.

"The elder's going to hate you for this," he said, probably knowing that it wouldn't mean anything to her.

Turning to look him in the eye, she smiled lightly. "Have you ever known him to like me?"

Sidoh avoided her gaze. "Once," he whispered "you were his favorite." She shuddered slightly, as if to shake off a bad memory.

'Yes," she nodded, "but that was then."

I thought this thread was dead. I actually came back to just copy + paste my post because of lack of any better plot bunnies. ;)

//Miri//

A girl- one of the Free- ran into the room, screaming.

"There's a cure!" she yelled. "There's a cure!"

Two sedations later, the eleven-year-old explained.

"A bird thing flew down and told me." Her face was completely serious. "They have it."

"Is insanity a symptom of the disease?" someone asked.

"No," someone answered.

"We'll send some Free to check it out anyway."

So us Free don't get to decide for ourselves? I thought bitterly.

Short and badly-written. Sorry. I'm just letting you know I'm alive still. ;)
