I remember on

I remember on Pudding's Place there being a thread where CBers put their novel synopsis and I went on a quest to find it. Alas, I couldn't, and after searching through pages and pages of red words, I came to a decision: I shall make a new one!

In order to practice the ever discouraging "back-cover description," however, you shall write the synopsis as if it were on the back cover of an actual book and the CBers were your adoring readers, wondering what wonderful literature is locked up beween those covers! So--commence!

If you don't care for advise or criticism, though, I don't advise that you post here, because advise and criticism is good! (Ach, I sounded just like my English teacher when he insists that we all tear an essay or story to shreds (figuratively) and publicly humiliate the poor writer. :)) So--commence! (Okay, I said that already. Please excuse my rambling, I've been up working on an essay for the said picky English teacher until one in the morning and now cannot write properly.

Where do we go when we are not ourselves? What is the trick to staying sane in the darkest hours? Why do we do what we do?

What lengths are we willing to go to when our lives are on the line?

Tracking down a revolution is hard - unless they want to make themselves known. Icaron and Sarah are caught in the middle of anarchy, backstabbing, and lies when a mysterious rebel attacks their school, killing almost everyone.

The name? New Year's Revolution.

~~

Yes, I am aware that it most likely stinks, but the story itself is pretty dang good, if I do say so myself.

@ Quintus:

That actually sounds pretty interesting.

And while I'm at it: top!

New Year's revolution? Bwahaha!

Sixth graders Ash Gemm, Sylvia Fey, Syrra Fay, Kale Null, Tiffany Wiralod, and Sirius Ember expect nothing more from the upcoming trip to an outdoor group camp in the Midwest than an extraordinarily fun time with friends. But they prove to be wrong when, during an activity, they discover six rings-- each of them fitting into a specific child's passions and personality. The situation becomes more complicated when a creepy teacher, magic, and a boy who might be brainwashed are added to the picture. And they rise to a climax when they realize that somebody is trying to steal the rings-- which there is more to than meets the eye.

Only Ash, Tiffany, Sirius, Kyle, Syrra, and Sylvia can stop the evil that wants to steal the rings... if they can get over their differences and work together.

Cool Tiffany, thoug i'm sure i've heard the name, Sirius Ember before...now where was it...?

Okay- Tiffany this book sounds awesome, The back cover is great. I feel like i have to read it. But if you aren't careful, I might become a zombi and attact your house until i can read this story. Not joking!

Yeah, I reused the name in your RP. Sirius is one of the names I recycle most often.

I know. It's a good name though.

@ Tiffany W.,

Your book sounds interesting!  I must say, to avoid confusion, try consolidating some of your characters.   And try changing "Only Ash, Tiffany, Sirius, Kyle, Syrra, and Sylvia" to "Only they"  This is what allerted me to the multiple characters issue.

Hmm... you're probably already in love with your names, but what world is this supposed to be in? If it's in our world, maybe you should try changing Sirius to something a little less unusual. Also, having Sirius and Syrra is kind of confusing.

That sounds pretty good, but I wouldn't put their names in first thing. It's kind of like an infodump, synopsis-wise.

Ash? It would be presumptuous to assume that it's off of my name, but... ah, whatever.

It sounds like something I would read. (considers) But then again, I read anything.

Chickuu says muci. That's either pasta, or a name, or pasta, or something Italian, or pasta, or PASTAAA!, or pasta.

Why are there only four elements?  And why must you search to find the one you call family?  Adam Jakobs has searched his entire life and has given up multiple times, (after all, there are only four.)  But one man called V is gradually destroying the mortal world.  Rumor has stated that V also is an Elemental.  The mortal world has little influence on the inhabitants of Arcantile, until Elemental Magic steps in to the lives of four of it's young inhabitants: Adam, who desparetly wants to know his Element; James, who is searching for a world that combines the mortal and the not; Shasha, who is looking for a cure to fire Elementalist's gradual self destruction and Zach, a mysterious boy who appears on a broomstick days before the trouble starts.  What happens to them as they explore other worlds outside of the mainland?  The answers, (though not all of them) are inside these pages...

This back of the cover might sound kind of awful, but as Quintus believes, I think the books is all right.  You can read an excerpt on the Elemental Magic thread.  I need advice on the inside text, so please comment on the thread and criticize!

@ Gollum

The 'they' was a good idea, but there have to be six people because that's part of the plot. Thanks for the advice, but I'm not going to consolidate any of them. No offense.

Consolidate sounds threatening. Beware, Deren, or I will consolidate you and Mr. Viri...

@Quintus: Yours sounds awesome! Please post it! :D

@Tiffany W: Yours also sounds cool! But I think it's "they are proven wrong" not "they prove to be wrong". And, about what Gollum said, instead of 'they' maybe you could put 'the six' because six different names are hard to remember? If you try saying it aloud, it's a bit of a mouthful. At least for me.

@Holmes: THAT SOUNDS AWESOME AND I HAVE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH FICTIONAL CHARACTERS WITH ONE-LETTER NAMES. (i.e. L from Death Note) (but not N) But maybe you could change "But one man called V is gradually destroying the mortal world.  Rumor has stated that V also is an Elemental." to "But one man called V is gradually destroying the mortal world and rumor has stated that V also is an Elemental." Without the italics of course! Sorry if this is extremely nit-picky. English class is kicking in. ;)

Okey-doke. Now my turn on the chopping block! :D If I can find it... *searches*

Um... I found it. But I don't like it. *tweaks* Okay. I'd also like name suggestions for Emilia. And Silvia's last name. I'm sick and tired of them.

Emilia Halladay hadn't meant to follow her sister. She hadn't meant to join the Masked Resistance. And she definitely hadn't meant to get tangled up in the mess that was an oncoming war.

Silvia Bauche thought her island country was safe, being far away from the insane dictator known as the Sir. But when the Sir orders a genocide of the islanders, only luck helps her get away and into Arella country, where the Masked Resistance is waiting.

And the Sir knows his time is up. People are getting restless and angry at his tyranny but he'll do anything to keep his power for as long as possible. So he bides what's left of his time, waiting for a certain girl to wander into his fortress.

Feel free to chop this up into pieces, chew it, then spit it out!

When Alexander and Rebecca find themselves in a strange new world they never (really) thought was possible, they embark on a quest to find the elusive Fountain of Youth, a mysterious spring which can cure any disease, including old age. Unbeknownst to Alexander, he has been diagnosed with a fatal illness and has only a year to live, and the one person who knows is too scared of his reaction to tell him. But time stops for no one. Will they find the Fountain before it is too late for him?

I know it needs work. I would never actually put that on the back cover of the book.
