Which of the following books would you read if you happened to see these titles on the shelf of your local bookstore?

The Sound of One Hand Clapping

Changing History

My Life of Dreams

Forever Branded

Journey to the Edge of the World

Song of the Shadow

I made tiny little synopsises for each of these and want to know which sounds most interesting, based on the title.

Gollumses would read Delta.  As long as it wasn't about a stewardess on Delta Airlines.  Silence and Delta sound like they would be in a series together.

@ Melody:

Don't I know it! The "View from a Two Hundred-Year-Old Oak Tree" was a fluke; I was feeling random.

Now, just for fun, could anybuggy help choosing a title for the book I'm currently working on? Here are the few I'm considering (just choose from these, since they relate to my book the most; these are all in Latin, in case you were wondering):

Ultimo

Claudere

Eversio

Interitum

Labes

Cado

The ones I like the most are the first three; what do you all think?

I'm horrible with titles. It's amazing how you come up with so many. :-)

I like Claudere, Eversio and Interitum the best. What's your book about?

@ Elizabeth M:

Well, it's kind of the tale of Atlantis, more then anything else. At the beginning, the inhabitants live on an island that's really idyllic and prosperous, but then there's an insurrection and eventually the island sinks beneath the sea. The word "Eversio" means ovethrowing--the insurrection--Claudere is close--because it sort of ends the island--Interitum translates to destruction--because the island is destroyed. I just typed in words on Google Translate (which is the best website for languages) and found them all in Latin.

Thanks for the imput!

That sounds like a really awesome idea! When you are finished with it maybe you could post some. :D

I think I'm going for Claudere or Eversio. Coolest sounding, I agree. Here's the beginning, for those who want to read it:

The sun rose fairly quickly over the edge of the ocean horizon, turning the sea from grey to magnificent blue, illuminating the clouds and painting the entire sky with morning's colors. I stood on the beach, alone, watching the painting in front of me, wondering where everyone was, yet relishing my peace and quiet. There was nothing so wonderful as a sunrise on an ocean, and no place so wonderful as Halycon to watch it.

Away in the distance, I heard bells tolling. Quick, cheerful bells. I smiled. It had been bruited abroad last night that the Queen was about to give birth to the heir of our kingdom, and likely these bells were the sign of birth. Had it been a death, the tolling would have been slower, more somber, for mourning. But the heirs were born. And they were going to lead triumphantly this kingdom, keeping it in its place as the greatest kingdom in the world.

As I turned away from the shore, intent on hurrying back to the village for news, I stumbled in the sand, and realized what I had tripped over was a large, clear marble, half buried in the ground. I say it was clear but although you could see in it, you couldn't see through it. I looked at it intently, wondering who could have left such a priceless looking object so carelessly, but then, to my wonder, an image began to form in the marble. It was an aerial view of our island triangle, all three islands clearly marked by their individual flags. I stared at it intently, wondering what it would show me next, when suddenly the marble shattered, the sound of the glass breaking magnified a hundred times, until it sounded like the entire island was breaking in half. The shards fell from my hand and buried back into the dune. I stepped back from them, almost terrified at what I had witnessed. And as I ran from the beach, worried that I would be late, I had a dreadful feeling that the new heir wasn't a blessing. It could be a curse.

This is a very, very rough draft of the first chapter, but it gives the general idea. Hope you like!

Is this taking place in the Bermuda Triangle?

@ Gollum:

How did you know? Well, no, it's not on the Bermuda Triangle specifically, but my imitation of it. Similar, though, because the magic surrounding it mixes up the radio waves of the ships crossing near it. Therefore, lost ship.

Three islands in a triangle.  Dead give away.

@ Gollum:

Oh dear...maybe I should do a Rhombus? More obsolete?

You should do a pentagon.  Or a dodecahedron.  Probably a pentagon.

Rhombicosadodecagon Smile

Just kidding . . .

How about this:

Great stellated truncated rhombicosadodecahedron

P.S.: That means, overall, a giant spiky ball. Like this Smile
