RR! Because I

Chatterbox: Inkwell

RR! Because I

RR! Because I don't have anything else to do!

Emry looked around the edge of the door, furtively, hoping against hope that she wouldn't be spotted. She ran out of the dim hall as if she had fire at her heels, casting looks at the side doors every now and then to see if there was light behind any of them. There wasn't.

"Emry!"

She spun around, her heart pounding like a hammer. But instead of the headmistress as she expected to see, it was a tall youth, his blond hair lit by the faint light at the other end of the corridor.

"Emry Pullman, what are you doing here?" As soon as her heart returned to normal, she recognized the boy. Jason Maverick. What was he doing here?

"What do you want, Jason? I've got to get out of here, I don't intend to stay another day here!" She exclaimed passionately, her eyes and ears still like radars for any sign that her absence might have been discovered.

"I'm here to help you escape."

Hope you like and hope Emry and Jason are too your liking. This could go either fantasy or realistic.

Emry felt relieved.  Thinking she would have to sneak out the back way, she now remembered that Jason had a Griffin.

"Could we borrow Freew?" she asked.

"How else could we get out?  They started guarding all the entrances and exits."

"You're a life saver."

"I hope you realize I'm not going with you."

Emry had started to walk away, but she swung around at this.

"You're not?" she exclaimed. Somehow, when he said he would help her leave, she supposed it was because he wanted to bail too.

"Look, I like you, that's why I want to help you, not because I want to run away." He could tell by her expression that she wasn't exactly pleased with this.

"Well then I don't need your help!" she cried, turning on her heel and beginning to storm off. "I don't need Freew."

"But how else did you plan to escape?" he replied, his voice rising. They both had started speaking louder then was safe, but it was too late. Before either could move, speak, or think, the hall light blared on, accompanied by the words,

"Well, well, what have we here?"

It was Victoria, the school(?) snob.  Unfortuantly, she was the only one teachers actually trusted.  Everyone said she was planted there to keep an eye on the rebelious ones.  Which pretty much meant she was the only normal one in the school.  That put her at great risk.  This risk was displayed as Emry socked her in the eye.

The force of the punch thrust Victoria to the ground.  Emry bolted then ran into the first door she could find.  It just so happened to be a supply closet.  "Merp."

Emry looked around.  Where was the sound coming from. "Smufflinz." Where the cake was that sound.  Emry got off of the desk she was sitting on.  The desk moved in the darkness.  Suddenly, bright white light blinded Emry.  Jason was standing in front of her.  "Didn't you hear me say Get off me?" he asked, exasperated.

"It sounded like 'Merp Smufflinz," Emry replied.

"Never mind about Merp Smufflinz, we gotta get outta here!" He cried.

"You mean you are coming with me?" Emry replied, as she rushed to the next door she saw.

"Of course! You think I'm going to be left holding the bag for knocking out Victoria and letting another student disappear?!" Jason exclaimed as he ran after her. She didn't have any clear idea where she was going but at least she was headed outside. They made it all the way to the front entrance before the sirens began to go off.

"Hurry!" Jason yelled. He grabbed her wrist--then suddenly, they were no longer inside the building. They had managed to get from inside to outside in front of the Griffin Shed.

"What just happened?" She asked, completely dumbfounded, looking at Jason as if she had never seen him before.

"I'll explain later. Stand guard while I get Freew and if someone comes, go up and hide in the hay, it's thick enough to hide an elephant!" He ran in and from within she could hear the sounds of animals stirring as they were woken up. But it seemed only a minute before he reappeared, Freew behind him, stamping impatiently. "Climb on," he said, bending down to give her a leg up. "We have a long ride ahead."
